Captain America 4 Is In The Works

Falcon and The Winter Soldier Spoilers Ahead!

Following the epic finale of Marvel’s Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+, the show’s producer and writer Malcolm Spellman and writer Dalan Musson are hard at work developing on a fourth Captain America.

Early numbers show that Falcon and the Winter Soldier is the biggest premiere ever for Disney’s streaming service Disney+ in the course of a weekend. A reported 1.7 million households tuned into for the first weekend of Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Topping the previous largest premier for the service, WandaVision‘s 1.6 million.

The three Chris Evans Captain America movies have grossed a combined $2.2 billion at the global box office from 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger, 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. It is one of the biggest Marvel and and now Disney franchises.

Marvel has not confirmed the project at this time.

At the end of Falcon and the Winter Soldier lingering questions from Avengers: End Game were finally answered. We have a new Captain America… and this one has vibranium wings.

The show will likely focus on Sam Wilson’s character who has taken the burden and power of the Captain America shield. Though another installment with the revitalization of Chris Evans Captain America could also be in talks or development that project would be separate.

Falcon and the Winter Soldier as a series has focused on the events post Avengers: Endgame in which Evans’ Captain America is assumed dead after going back to his love Peggy Carter to live out his days and passing the shield to Sam. Everyone in the series refers to him in the past tense though no one seems quite sure where exactly he is.

The show focused on a lot of current issues plaguing America including systemic racism, power struggles and disenfranchisement of the few while the powerful few are in charge of all decisions. This show took all of that on, head on.

We love the direction Captain America is headed and we love Sam Wilson as the new Cap. The show and the development of a fourth Captain America film in the Marvel Cinemtatic Universe could work to establish Sam Wilson’s Captain America as a pilar of the MCU going forward and we’re here for it.

We also hope to see Bucky in the fourth installment so they can continue to fight “The Big 3” together because it’s definitely a thing.
