Disney World and Orange County Partner to Encourage Vaccinations

A number of Orange county entities have partnered together to help Orange County Florida reach herd immunity with the COVID-19 vaccination.

Orange County Government officials, representatives from the Florida Department of Health in Orange County, the City of Orlando, Orlando Economic Partnership, Visit Orlando, Walt Disney World, and Universal Orlando have all partnered together for a  “I Got My Shot” public safety campaign.

This campaign is designed to encourage vaccinations, fact-based research, and to debunk COVID-19 vaccine myths. As all of these entities are respected members of the community, they hope to spike numbers of community members getting the vaccine.

Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings initiated the partnership.

“We want to make all residents aware of the safety, convenience and benefits of taking the vaccine as soon as possible,” said Mayor Demings. “And for those who have already received their vaccines, we’re asking for your help spreading the word to your family, friends and neighbors.”

There is one goal for the group and that is to reach herd immunity within this community as quickly as possible. That means 79% of the community gets vaccinated.

Underlying incentive is that Demings has stated that he would likely lift the county mask mandate once Orange County reached 50% vaccination.

Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
