Earlier this year Disney announced they would be discontinuing Disney’s Magical Express Service in 2022.
This devastated Disney guests who have come to expect a certain level of service from the company and who loved the service which took guests as part of their Walt Disney Resort stay to and from Orlando International Airport and their resort.
Disney has announced plans for a new high-speed rail line that would run from Orlando International Airport and Disney Springs but there is no firm timeline for this transportation option.
Well today, Mears Transportation, who Disney contracts with for Disney’s Magical Express Announced Mears Connect.
Mears Connect will be Mears own shuttle service between Orlando International Airport and Disney World resorts early next year, following the shutdown of Disney Magical Express.
“Guests can expect scheduled service, luggage handling, convenient airport terminal staging, and return trips to the airport,” Mears said in a news release.
The service will launch January 2022 and will provide transportation between Orlando International Airport and resorts in the Walt Disney World area. Similar to what Disney’s Magical Express has offered for years through Mears.
Travelers who use the service will be transported in “high occupancy vehicles.”
Reservations for Mears Connect will be available beginning in May 2021 for service beginning January 2022. Pricing will be announced later this year.
“We plan to offer the same level of experience, service and convenience we’ve provided for the last 16 years, on behalf of our longtime partner, as returning guests and first-time visitors can expect nothing less,” Mears spokesperson Roger Chapin said in a statement.
We couldn’t be more excited that this void Disney has left will be filled by the same company who previously offered the service.
Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
