We’re seeing a lot of misinformation resulting from today’s Disney shareholder meeting. Here’s what was really said.
Bob Chapek was asked a question regarding when Disney Cruise Line would resume sailings.
His response was that he “hoped” sailings “could” resume this fall.
“We’re very anxious to get our Disney Cruise line business back up and running. As of right now we don’t have any definitive information.”Bob Chapek
Chapek said that with the wide span rollout of vaccines, the company hopes to have limited cruise ship operations resume by this fall. He said that if the industry was given the opportunity to resume operations even within a restricted capacity, they would likely reume and implement similar guidelines that have been put in place in their theme parks.
Although not specified that likely means that there would be strict capacity limits, a reduction in high-contact experiences like character meet-and-greets and masks are likely to be required in areas where physical distancing can not be enforced.
At no point in the meeting did Bob Chapek state that sailings would resume this fall only that it is the company’s hope.
