Walt Disney World has released more details into the glitzy celebration surronding the 50th Anniversary of the Most Magical Place on Earth.
It was revealed Friday morning that the celebration will span 18 months starting on October 1. The date marks the actual 50th anniversary of the opening of Magic Kingdom which opened to the public Oct. 1, 1971.
All four theme parks will be included in the festivities surrounding the Most Magical Celebration on Earth and will receive light enhancements to accent the gorgeous celebration palette.
Epcot’s Spaceship Earth will come alive at night with the celebration color scheme.
Animal Kingdom’s Tree of Life and Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ Hollywood Tower Hotel will be incorporated into the celebration as well.
“At night, our four park icons … are going to come to life with a magical iridescent glow, covered in pixie dust, that we call the beacons of magic,”Dana Carlson, associate broadcast producer with Disney Live Entertainment.
As for the star of the show; the iconic Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom will come alive with shimmery details. Late last year a castle glow up was revealed with deeper blues and more a more vibrant pink.
“The entire castle will shimmer with pearls and jewels, and the turrets and towers will be wrapped in iridescent gold and royal blue ribbons. Above the castle gate, a 50th-anniversary crest will warmly welcome guests to join the festivities.”George Adams, Walt Disney Imagineering.
The large Walt Disney World and Magic Kingdom signs have all been modifed in recent months as well. Giving them purple, gold, green and blue details.
The Most Magical Celebration on Earth will not just be about aesthetics. It will also include the expansion of new entertainment and attractions.
“Good Morning America” on Disney-owned ABC announced some of the details Friday morning. A segment showed Mickey and Minnie in their new outfits (we are obsessed) on a float with 50th anniversary theming and Cinderella Castle in the background.
More details will be shared prior to the start of the celebration but we do know from a press release from Disney that there will be “new experiences at the resort’s four theme parks and beyond.”
We can’t wait to be a part of the magic and to see what Disney has in store. I think we can all use a celebration.
