One of most highly anticipated opening at Disney Springs in Walt Disney World has been Gideon’s Bakehouse. The eclectic atmosphere and monster cookies have drawn long lines and rave reviews since their opening on December 24.
This is the second location for the master of the sweet treats and nary a negative thing has been heard.
The shop had humble beginnings in Steve Lewis’ small home kitchen in Orlando’s College Park neighborhood. Now, he’s made it big, all the way to Disney Springs with the opening of the company’s second location.
Now, just 11 days after opening their doors to much success, Gideon’s announced via their Instagram that they would be closing their doors temporarily.
Although the opening was supposed to be just a “soft opening”, castmembers had told guests that the shop would remain open 365 days a year and would not close for another official opening.
In addition, guests were told that the soft opening was actually the official opening from castmembers.
It is unclear why the shop will be closing it’s doors but fans are certainly disappointed. We hope to see the shop reopen soon to experience the tastiness for ourselves.
