The Walt Disney Company Investor Call: What’s Coming for Marvel

On December 10, The Walt Disney Company held an Investor call to provide updates on upcoming projects and what fans and investors can expect from the company in the coming years.

This call was mainly focused on entertainment and more specifically Disney’s streaming service.

There is a lot coming down the pipeline for Marvel and we’re covering it all.

Marvel Studios Wanda Vision will begin streaming on Disney+ January 15. The show, described by Marvel as a “mega event series,” will be set following Avengers: Endgame.

“The legacy of that shield is complicated.” The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, an Original Series will start streaming March 19 on Disney+ with a six episode debut.

Anthony Mackie reprises his MCU movie role as Sam Wilson/Falcon, with Sebastian Stan doing the same for his role as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier. A teaser showed a bit of snark between the two main characters. In one scene, Falcon teases the Winter Soldier about what’s going on in his “cyborg brain,” only to have Winter Soldier reply, “I hate you.”

The show also stars Daniel Brühl as Zemo, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, and Wyatt Russell as John Walker/US Agent. 

Loki, an Original Series from Marvel Studios, is coming May 2021 to Disney+. The show is set after ” Avengers: Endgame and will follow adventures of Thor’s brother as he is constantly reminded at every turn that he is Thor’s brother. The series also stars Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku and Richard E. Grant.

Loki‘s head writer, Michael Waldron (Rick and Morty), talked a little bit about that in a podcast interview back in March. “I think it’s the struggle with identity, who you are, who you want to be. I’m really drawn to characters who are fighting for control,” said Waldron. “Certainly, you see that with Loki over the first ten years of movies, he’s out of control at pivotal parts of his life, he was adopted and everything, and that manifests itself through anger and spite towards his family.”

“Space. Time. Reality. It’s more than linear path.” WHAT IF…?, an Original Series from Marvel Studios, is coming Summer 2021 to Disney Plus. This is an animated streaming television anthology series created for Disney+ by A.C. Bradley, based on the Marvel Comics series. It explores what would happen if major moments from the films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe occurred differently

Ms. Marvel, a newer character to Marvel comics has grabbed the world’s imagination and we are excited to announce Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan. Ms. Marvel, an Original Series from Marvel Studios, is coming late 2021 to DisneyPlus+.

Original Avenger Jeremy Renner is returning as Hawkeye, teaming up with well-known archer from Marvel comics, Kate Bishop played by the amazing Hailee Steinfeld.

She-Hulk arrives to the MCU! Tatiana Maslany will portray Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk and Tim Roth returns as the Abomination and Hulk himself. Mark Ruffalo will also appear in the series. She-Hulk is coming to Disney+.

Moon Knight, an Original Series about a complex vigilante, is coming to Disney+.

Samuel L Jackson is back as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn from Captain Marvel returns as the Skrull Talos in the new Marvel Studios Original Series called Secret Invasion coming to Disney+.

Dominique Thorne is the genius inventor Riri Williams in the new series Ironheart. This new original series is about the creator of the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man. She starts as child genius, and winds up the latest hero to don an advanced suit à la Tony Stark’s famous armor.

Don Cheadle will return as James Rhodes aka War Machine in Armor Wars on Disney+. A classic Marvel story about Tony Stark’s worst fear coming true: what happens when his tech falls into the wrong hands?

The Guardians of the Galaxy will return with a Holiday Special. The special will be directed by James Gunn and will arrive on Disney+ in 2022.

“I am Groot!” Baby Groot is back to star in a series of shorts on Disney+. He will be joined by some new and unusual characters. I Am Groot is coming to Disney+.

Blade, a new feature film starring Mahershala Ali in the title role will hit theaters May 6, 2022.

Christian Bale will join the cast of Thor: Love and Thunder as the villain Gorr the God Butcher. In theaters May 6, 2022

Peyton Reed is back to direct the third Ant-Man film, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, and Michelle Pfeiffer all return for the next installment. Kathryn Newton will join the cast as Cassie Lang and Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror.

The long awaited sequel, Black Panther 2 will open on July 8, 2022. The sequel is being written & directed by Ryan Coogler. Honoring Chadwick Boseman’s legacy & portrayal of T’Challa. Marvel announced they will not recast the character but will instead explore the world of Wakanda and its people.

Brie Larson returns as Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel 2, to be directed by Nia DaCosta. Joining the cast are recently announced Ms. Marvel, Iman Vellani, and Monica Rambeau played by WandaVision’s Teyonah Parris. Captain Marvel 2 flies into theaters Nov. 11, 2022

Jon Watts will direct the new feature film for Marvel’s First Family, Fantastic Four!

Production just wrapped for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Meet the fantastic cast bringing the film to life. The film is slated to hit theaters July 9th, 2021.

Black Widow chronicles Natasha Romanoff’s efforts to deal with her history as a spy long before she became an Avenger. Directed by Cate Shortland and starring Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, and Rachel Weisz. In theaters May 7, 2021.

A new Marvel film, Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness will debut on March 25, 2022. The film will star Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, & Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez. Directed by Sam Raimi, the film will have ties to WandaVision & the next Spider-Man film.

“Part of the journey is the end.” But it doesn’t look like there is any end for the Marvel franchise. That is a lot of Marvel coming up. Buckle up.
