It’s the most wonderful time to wear baggy clothes so you can eat more treats.
Last week, we brought you the full menus for the 2020 Epcot International Festival of the Holidays and there are a lot of things we are excited about with this year’s menus.
But, if you only have one day we thought it would be good to bring you our top ten items you have to try at this year’s festival.
We are going to break these into three categories. Savory, Sweet and Drinks.
Let’s get started.
From Refreshment Outpost we bring you the Warm Brown Sugar-stuffed Pretzel with Soft-serve Ice Cream and Chocolate Sauce. The perfect mix of sweet with the ice cream and brown sugar and the salty with the pretzel.
The American Holiday Table has the Slow-roasted Turkey with Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans, and Cranberry Sauce. This is a must during the holiday season of course. Who doesnt want a traditional American Thanksgiving in the Epcot World Showcase?!
The Yukon Holiday Kitchen is always one of our favorites for this festival and they did not disappoint this year. One of the new items we love is the Beef Bourguignon with Crushed Potatoes. Such a classic dish and its done really well. Deep flavors and creamy mashed potatoes just usher in the fall and winter.
The Tuscan Holiday Kitchen has this gorgeous and tasty Sacchetti alla Boscaiola. This dish includes four-cheese Mini Beggar’s Purses (pasta) filled with Sweet Sausage, Caramelized Onions, Pancetta, and Cremini Mushrooms with a Creamy Sauce.
Over at the Las Posadas Kitchen we are raving about the Tamal de Pollo. Braised Chipotle Chicken served in a Corn Masa topped with Mole Verde, Queso Cotija, Crema Mexicana, and Toasted Pumpkin Seeds.
Back at the American Holiday Table to go with your traditional Thanksgiving dinner we also recommend grabbing the Pumpkin Gingerbread Cheesecake with Cranberry Whipped Cream and Candied Pumpkin Seeds.
No holiday list would be complete without a Yule Log. The Yukon Holiday Kitchen presents the Maple Bûche de Noël. This version has Maple Mousse and Cranberry rolled in Gingerbread Chiffon Cake
Back in Italy at the Tuscan Holiday Kitchen we love the Cannoli Siciliani. This traditional Italian pastry is filled with Sweet Ricotta, Chocolate, and Candied Orange.
For a holiday beverage we have to include a spiced wine. No drink, in our opinion screams holidays quite like a spiced or mulled wine. Over at the Bavarian Holiday Kitchen we have Glühwein: House-made Hot Spiced Wine.
Last but certainly not least we had to include this festive fall flavor mixed into a margarita. We have never heard of a PSL inspired Marg but here you have it. The Los Posadas Kitchen Pumpkin Spice Margarita. Tomba Blanco Tequila, Ojo de Tigre Mezcal, Nixta Corn Liqueur, Pumpkin Spice Purée, and Lime-Agave Juice with Cinnamon-Sugar Rim (New)
There you have it! Those are our top things we think you should try at this years Epcot International Festival of the Holidays. Weve got a little something for everyone. Salty, savory, sweet and a couple adult beverages in there too of course.
The Epcot International Festival of the Holidays is one of our favorite Epcot festivals but it often gets overlooked and overshadowed by Food and Wine and Flower and Garden.
Although the holiday magic is different this year, Disney has made such an effort to ensure the magic remains and is there in unique and different ways. If you have the opportunity to visit Disney and can do with an open mind and fully acknowledging that 2020 is a just a year of challenges and differences, you can truly enjoy all that Disney World has to offer.
