October and November 2020 Spotlight Charity for the For Love of The Mouse Etsy Shop Hits Extra Close to Home With The Castmember Pantry
Welcome to our blog! We are excited you are here and can’t wait to share information about our spotlight charity for October and also for November. If you missed our big announcement, in September, we announed that $5 from every pair of ears sold from our Etsy shop would go to a spotlight charity for that month.
Our spotlight charity for September was The Gary Sinise Foundation.
Every Month, we will be featuring a different charitable organization over in our Etsy Shop and will do a complimentary blog post here to talk more about the charity and the work that they do.
Following a profit loss of 91% in 2020 due to the continuing pandemic affecting the entire world, Disney Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products released a statement in late September that 28,000 domestic employees will be laid off.
The statement released by D’Amaro included this:
Our Cast Members have always been key to our success, playing a valued and important role in delivering a world-class experience, and we look forward to providing opportunities where we can for them to return.Josh D’Amaro

As a result of the layoffs, we have decided that out October charity of the month will benefit the castmembers we love and appreciate so much. Without them, the magic of Disney would not be possible.
So, we will be donating $5 from every pair of ears sold from our shop to The Castmember Pantry for the entire month of October and also November.
We are proud of our small shop and honored to be able to give back in this way. You can visit our Etsy shop by clicking HERE!
Castmembers are Disney. The magic they create, the passion they have for their job and for Walt and his vision. It’s what makes Disney exceptional. What sets the company, the theme parks, the cruises apart from every other player in those industries.
If we can do our small part to give back to the castmembers who have given so much, we are happy and honored to do so.
The Castmember Pantry was started back in March by Emily Lartigue, a furloughed Walt Disney World cast member.
The Cast Member Pantry officially opened on March 6, 2020 as a direct result of the Disney College Program being shutdown due to COVID-19. She started out by setting up appointments with cast members who could come to a storage unut and do their shopping from available items that had been left behind by College Program castmembers who had returned home.
The pantry has grown substantially and following the layoff announcement by Disney, The Castmember Pantry posted this on their Facebook page:
Emily told WDWInfo in the beginning of September that The Castmember Pantry spends an average of about $4-5k a week on groceries during their busier weeks and that every contribution has truly made a difference.
For the month of October we are proud to support The Castmember Pantry and the castmembers who are struggling during this difficult and uncertain time.
As we mentioned, $5 from every pair of ears sold from our shop will go to The Castmember Pantry so they can buy additional supplies for castmembers who are furloughed and recently laid off.

According to WDWinfo the more popular grocery items such as pasta and sauce, cereal, grab & go snacks, canned tuna, canned chicken, canned vegetables, canned beans, and soups were flying off the shelves quickly as they started to see a huge increase in their waitlist.
If you would like to contribute via venmo you can do so through the username @castmemberpantry. You can also contribute via their Amazon Wish List.
