The Walt Disney World refurbishment calendar indicates that Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat will both soon undergo an extensive refurbishment.
The calendar shows that the work will begin on October 5.
Disney has not released information regarding the extent of the refurbishment or the nature of the work. Considering it is a lengthy refurbishment, we expect it includes work to the track that the Liberty Square Riverboat runs on.
Work was done last night on the section in front of Liberty Square so this refurbishment could focus on the space between Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain. If that is the case, that would explain why Tom Sawyer Island will also be closed. That work would cut off access to Tom Sawyer Island.
Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
