Disney World Will Add Additional Free Month to Annual Pass Expiration Dates
Disney World will be adding one free month to all Annual Pass (AP) expiration dates. With Disney being closed for months due to coronavirus and the restricted capacity that had to be implemented to enforce social distancing and the current situation, Disney is adding a month for AP’s to (try to) keep them happy.
I have no qualms being real with you guys about the reality of Disney AP’s and Disney Vacation Club members. We are both. Because of our passes and DVC purchase we feel Disney owes us for our loyalty. That’s just the reality. AP’s and DVC see a number of terrific perks added on to their passes but with perks come the expectation of more perks.
Many of those perks including events just for AP’s and DVC have had to be postponed or canceled for the time being and the masses are mad. There is no park hopping. Disney had to temporarily eliminate that option to accomodate more people into the parks. In addition, Disney has made it clear that resort guests have priority in terms of Disney Park Passes. The park passes are required theme park reservations for people to get into parks.
With Disney Park Pass, guests wanting to visit a park must make a reservation. Disney has prioritized resort guests for obvious reasons but did make reservations available for AP’s. Just last week, Disney announced additional slots would be added for AP’s. With perks of the passes on hold and slots for the parks limited, Disney has added a FREE month to passes as a peace offering.
Passholders should check their pass details in the My Disney Experience app or website to see the free month.
AP’s not wishing to extend are able to cancel their pass outright.
Disney Statement Regarding Annual Passholder Policy Updates
Here is wat Disney said regarding the policy updates:
We know that many Passholders are excited to get back to the magic—and we’re eager to see our cherished Passholders, too. We also recognize that Park reservations will change the way that many of our Passholders use their pass. With that in mind, we are offering these alternative options to manage your pass.
If you are an Annual Passholder that has paid in full, your options are:
- Receive an additional one-month (30 days) extension to your pass (unless you choose to cancel your pass). This additional month will automatically be processed and visible in your My Disney Experience account over the coming weeks.
- If you prefer, and in lieu of the one-month extension, you may choose to cancel your annual pass(es). Your pass will remain valid through August 11, 2020 and will be canceled effective August 12, 2020. You will be refunded for the remaining access days of your annual pass from July 11, 2020 through your pass expiration date (as extended, if applicable). Refunds to original form of payment can be expected by mid- to late September. Refunds may take up to an additional month to receive if original form of payment is not available. To request this option, contact V.I.PASSHOLDER Support at (407) 939-7277.
