Disney to Increase Park Pass Availability For Annual Passholders Following Reopening of Walt Disney World Theme Parks
Additional Disney Park Passes for Annual Passholders
Disney has updated their website in terms of Annual Passholders (AP). Beginning, Thursday July 16, additional Disney Park Pass reservation availability will be made available for AP’s. The availability will be for July and August. Select dates will open up for Magic Kingdom, EPCOT and Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
This additional availability does not reflect an increase in park attendance as that remains extremely limited. Estimates for park maximum capacity are around 20% though that’s not confirmed by Disney.
The new Park Passes are likely due to resort guests not utilizing the availability that was made to them. Disney has made no secret that resort guests would have priority when it comes to making theme park reservations.
As of Wednesday, there was no more annual passholder theme park reservations available for the remainder of July. In addition, few spots could be found for August. Noticably missing from the Disney Park Pass additions were could not get into any Walt Disney World theme park for the rest of July, and weekend slots in August were rare. The pattern had been for Hollywood Studios to be the first of the four parks to “sell out” each day, possibly because its capacity is the lowest.
AP’s staying at select Disney resorts or good neighbor hotels are able to make theme park reservations for the entire length of their stay OR make up to three theme park reservations on a rolling basis. Once a theme park reservation is used, another can be made for a future date.
Now, with the changes, AP’s are able to do both. Book three rolling reservations AND make reservations for the length of their stay.
Effective July 14, AP’s can receive 30% off select merchandise at Walt Disney World parks and resorts and through August 14, 2020.
Annual Passholder Extensions
In June, Disney announced that AP holders can receive a one-month extension to their pass. This additional month be will automatically processed and visible in the My Disney Experience account over the coming weeks.
For those who don’t want an extension, they can cancel their pass.
If passholders choose to not renew, their pass will remain valid through August 11, 2020.
