We’re back with another edition of favorites. In quarantine, favorites have been quite different. I’m not really buying Disney items right now, clothing or otherwise because as of right now, we don’t have a trip planned to Disney until fall. So, our favorites are looking a little different but we have some great stuff to share and I can’t wait to dive in.
Let’s get started.
Food and Drink
We are absolutely loving Home Chef. We have been using this meal kit service for a couple of months now. The ability to customize our selections to try out items that we normally wouldn’t make or choose is really great for us. It’s also been great because we have been cooking together which before this, we never really did.
For years, I would meal prep all of our food in advance. I would spend an entire weekend day cooking, then portioning, then cleaning and while it worked this is so much more fun.
We are even taking our Home Chef meals to a cabin we are going to for a little mountain getaway. I am doing macros to track my nutrition so I am able to enter in the nutrition facts that come with each meal so I know how much of what macro nutrient I am able to eat for the remainder of the day.
We can’t recommend it highly enough. if you are interested in trying out Home Chef, you can use our referral link Here! Try it out and get $35 off your first order. If you don’t enjoy it or it isn’t for you, you are under no obligation to continue the service.
If you follow us on Instagram you know that I created my own coffee bar at home. It has saved us so much money and I am able to get creative with my coffees and always switch it up depending on my mood. In addition, I discovered Skinny Mixes. These amazing syrups are zero carb, zero fat, zero sugar and amazing taste. I’m serious. They taste amazing. Better than any of the carb and sugar filled syrups I have used before.
I have tried so many flavors and I am hooked. Right now, I am really loving the Irish Cream, White Chocolate and S’mores flavors and I hope they continue to release new delicious flavors that I can add to my collection.
You can’t lose with these syrups and one syrup is less than the cost of a fancy latte at your favorite coffee shop. If you are interested in trying them out, use code MOUSE10 for for 10% off your order.
You won’t regret it. These syrups are out of this world incredible and even if you aren’t watching your carb and sugar intake, you will LOVE the taste. So many of our friends have tried it and are now hooked just like me. They also have fruity syrups for other beverages and even a Keto line.
I miss Hawaii. We had a conversation about going to Hawaii because you have to quarantine for 14 days and I would have no problem quarantining in Hawaii. We decided instead to do a trip to the mountains in our home state but I ordered Hawaiian flavored pancakes. I found these on Amazon and I needed them.
So excited for these flavors. Mostly for the Lilikoi which is passion fruit and my favorite thing to eat in the entire universe. This package came with a variety which is awesome! Lilikoi, Banana Macadamia Nut, Strawberry Guava, Chocolate Macadamia Nut and Pineapple Coconut. My mouth is watering. And you can also get the flavored syrups to add to the experience and send these babies over the edge.
I’m all about that hot sauce life. Typically, we can roll with our the giant bottle of Cholula but sometimes you have to kick it up a notch. This stuff is out of this world. It’s got the sweet heat; not over the top spicy but it gives eggs, sandwiches, burritos, pretty much everything, that extra kick you need.
Makeup and Body
We’re back with another Colourpop collection. It’s been a while since Colourpop was able to launch a new collection. Coronavirus shut down the entire facility but they are back up and running and released a new Tie Dye Two-Toned collection.
This collection consists of three eyeshadow palettes, a blue and purple based palette, a green and yellow based palette and a peach based palette. There are two highlighters, six eyeliners, Sol Dry Oil, Glam Rock Glitter Gel and Fourth Ray Coconut Face Milk.
You can get the entire collection or just snag a couple of pieces. I wasn’t into the whole collection so I picked up the Manifest That Super Shock Highlighter, the Miss Bliss eyeshadow palette and the In A Trance eyeshadow palette.
The Miss Bliss palette is a great collection of peachy, orange and coral tones. I have two other palettes from Colourpop that in this same shade range and I in no way needed this. Still got it though and still love it.
Stay tuned for a couple fun tutorials using the products in this collection I picked up.
I am really into skin care right now. With quarantine I really started focusing on my skin care routine and I have continued to add some great new products to my collection and routine. There have also been some not so great products.
This is one of the great products. A little on the pricey side, this Banana Bright Vtamin C serum. Because of my years in the sun, I have dark spots and this has really and truly started to correct them. I love the brightness it gives my skin and the tone correction is worth the price in and of itself.
Highly recommend if you are looking for a great new serum to try and want to even out your skin tone and add some brightness to your face.
For the Home
We eliminated dryer sheets about six months ago and switched to using dryer balls. I love the dryer balls. It helps eliminate waste and leaves our clothes fresh and not full of static. The one thing I missed was the scent. If you follow our blog, you know that I love strong scents and without the dryer sheets our laundry was missing those great scents. So, we started using essential oils.
I also turned my Mom onto doing this. She was concerned at first that it would leave her clothes oily but it doesn’t at all. It gives us the option of switching up the scents and we are being wasteful with dryer sheets.
These scents are amazing. It’s like being on the islands everytime I put clothes on or hop into bed. I can’t recommend this tropical oil collection enough to give you that escape you need.
Clothing and Accessories
Amazon can be hit or miss when it comes to clothes. I have found some really great items that are staples for me. I have also found some duds. This dress is one that I will order in every color I can. Amazingly comfortable, casual, lightweight and perfect for summer.
These dresses come in a variety of colors and styles. It can be dressed up or dressed down. Perfect with flip flops or heels. And the price is just right.
I am full swing into training for Dopey Challenge 2021. About a month in, I was really struggling with blisters on my feet. This was new for me. In 20 years of running I have never had issues with blisters. I have always just worn whatever socks I pulled out of the drawer but I decided with these blisters to invest in some better socks.
A few years back Bryson bought some Stance socks for me. I love them. They are by the far the best socks that I own. I decided to invest in the Athletic Tab style because they sit a bit higher on the back of the foot so there’s no uncomfortable rubbing.
I love these socks. Pricey yes but there is nothing worse than hurt feet, blistered feet, wet feet on a long run or a long walk or hike or day in the parks. You can’t put a price on that.
Along those same lines I have never purchased running specific or moisture wicking underwear. We live in Colorado. There is no humidity. However, these long runs, I tell ya’ what. They are getting to me. I found these on Amazon and thought I would give them a try and they are great. I have already ordered more.
If you are in humidity or an athlete I recommend these. They come in a couple different cuts so you can choose what you are most comfortable in.
I am a minimalistic runner. I don’t run with hydration, I don’t run wth pockets, I don’t run with anything but my clothes (of course) my headphones and my phone for music.
That being said. One of the questions regarding upcoming races has to do with hydration stations. With that being up in the air, I don’t want to add a hydration pack of my own only for a month or so of training. Also, it’s summer and we rarely get below 90 degrees here in Colorado in the last month or so. A camelback is perfect to help keep me hydrated.
I ordered this one on Amazon to try out and only fill it about half full. It’s been awesome. I only wear it for long runs but it’s great. I highly recommend. This particular one is lightweight and doesn’t chafe my arms or shoulders. It has clips to keep it from bouncing and so far, after using it for my long runs for over a month, I am enjoying it.
Last but not least, I ordered a giant inflatable unicorn. With pools not open and those that are are only with only limited availability, I decided to get creative and use what we have at our disposal for my summer fun.
I ordered this giant unicorn on Amazon and am thrilled to announce that this is my favorite purchase of the year to date. So, where am I using this giant floatie? On our family farm. We take the dogs up to the farm and blow up Eunice the unicorn and I float around on the large irrigation ponds.
Well, that’s it for my favorites for May and June. Thank you for stopping by. We’ll see ya’ real soon. Be sure to follow us on Instagram at ForLoveOfMouse, on Facebook at For The Love of The Mouse and on YouTube at For Love of The Mouse.
