We’re back with another installment of my current favorites. There are a few things that I am really loving right now and I want to share them with you because you might just find yourself loving them too. As always, nothing in this post is sponsored; these items are things that I love in my everyday life and I think you might too.
Food and Drink:
Coffee at Home
I am loving all of my coffee accoutrements for my at-home coffee station. Starbucks and coffee houses can get incredibly expensive and working from home, I don’t need to go our to get my morning brew.
We covered our at-home coffee house must haves in a post at the beginning of the year and you can read all about that HERE! Since that time, I have discovered Skinny Syrups and am absolutely loving those. They are delicious. They don’t taste like sugar free syrups typically taste which to me is gross and they come in a variety of flavors like S’mores, Salted Caramel, White Mocha, Irish Cream and more.
The five key components to our at-home coffee station are:
Such a gamechanger and a great way to save money. A little up front investment has saved us so much money in the long run.
I am a big water drinker. I drink it all day every day. One thing I love is to make a “recipe” for detox water. I make it in a large pitcher and fill it for several days before replacing the ingredients. It sounds a little strange but it is incredibly refreshing and a great way to get your water intake in and keep that number up and switch it up a bit. Here’s what you will need:
A pitcher or large container HERE is the infusion pitcher that I use.
Strawberries (this particular pitcher only fits 3-4)
Cucumber slices (5-6 thin slices)
1 sliced lemon
small handful of cilantro
Stuff ingredients into infuser or place in pitcher and fill with water. Allow to infuse for several hours, I infuse for 24 hours and then enjoy!
I’m not trying to say these are the healthiest decision I am going to make today but holy moly these are delicious. We don’t keep pasta in the house. After being Paleo for a few years and because of issues that I have that we do not need to dive into but we don’t keep a lot of grains in our house we choose to eat more clean so we have mostly protein, fruits, veggies, etc. But, I saw these and I was like, “Yep. We need that.” And we have purchased them ever since.
The pasta is not pasta at all; the “noodles” are made from lentils and zuchini and then topped with an amazing cheese sauce. The carbs are about half of what you would get with traditional pasta and I can’t tell the difference. My husband did not think he would be a fan and he loves them. There is a serving of vegetables in every serving of the pasta and we love it.
Makeup and Body:
I recently talked about this in a blog post titled, “My Nightime Skin Care Routine” and this product is something that I stand behind 100%. I have been using it almost every night and while it is expensive, I think it is worth every penny.
There are a few nights where I will use a sleeping mask or another product but this is my go-to and I highly recommend. It is an AHA BHA serum and the only downfall is the scent; it has a really pungent scent but I can overlook it because I just love the results. My skin is glowy, bright, even and I feel like my fine lines and wrinkles are diminished.
If you have been following along for any period of time really, you know, I love to be tan. I spray tan year round and I just think a deep tan is the best thing in the world for my mental health and my body image. I love it. Well, it’s not summer yet and we live in Colorado so there is no tanning outside yet and with the COVID-19 regulations in place, obviously there is no spray tanning so I was looking online for something that might give me a glow and I came across this Coola sunless tanning firming lotion and I am hooked. I will use this year round from here on out.
I started using in March and I put it on before bed after my shower and the next morning I had an amazing glow. A little goes a long way which is fantastic because this product isn’t cheap. It soaks into the skin and is moisturizing as well as tanning and firming and the scent is to die for. The packaging says that it is a Pina Colada scent but I think it smells like cherries.
I love it. It makes me happy and it makes me feel good about myself and I can’t recommend it highly enough. I alternate it with my other nighttime body lotion. I don’t use it everyday but every other or every third day and it’s perfect for me.
Anastasia Beverly Hills is one of my favorite brands for eyeshadow palettes. I love the formula the brand uses especially for their mattes and shimmers. I will say that some of the glitters have quite a bit of fallout but this palette is everything I love in this world. This is a Barbie dream palette and I’m obsessed. Hands down, this is a top five palette for me in my extensive palette collection.
Be sure to check out my Get The Look ABH Amrezy Palette blog post for a fun look using this palette!
This has been in my arsenal for some time now but I recently had to repurchase and thought this was a great time to highlight this product. If you like glowy, dewy skin or a blinding highlight this is the product for you. This can be used under your foundation for a dewy, youthful finish or can be used as a stand alone product for a really glowy look. It can also be used as a highlight.
This product in really versatile and creates a flawless finish and really amps up your look. A little goes a long way and it is something I use frequently especially in the summer when I want to get really dewy with my look. This is my go-to glow product hands down.
For the Home:
Let’s start out by saying this, don’t ever pay full price for a Bath and Body Works candle. They go on sale all the time. I will admit it has been a minute since they were last discounted but just hold out because I will say this loud and proud, “no candle is worth $25.00”
I have said this in multiple blogs but Bath and Body Works candles are the absolute best. I love a strongly scented candle. I don’t buy candles for a subtle, barely there scent that wafts in once in a while. I buy candles for a strong, delicious aroma to envelope my house and that’s what you get with Bath and Body Works candles.
This is a new scent and right now I have it in my office and I am really enjoying it. It is fruity, tropical and sweet but not sickeningly sweet. If you are looking for a fun new scent, give this one a try.
As we move towards a less wasteful life and try to find ways to do our part in helping the earth and reducing our footprint one thing that we really wanted to incorporate was to stop using dryer sheets but I was skeptical about dryer balls. How can a little ball do the same job as a dryer sheet? Reduce static, impart a fresh scent, etc.
Well, we found these on Amazon and decided to give them a try. These are amazing. They actually reduce static better than dryer sheets in our opinion and we have found it fun to use essential oils on the ball to put a delightful scent on our clothing and other laundry items.
With summer coming, I found this pack of tropical essential oils and we are using those on our dryer balls and our clean laundry smells amazing. It is a light scent, not overwhelming but it’s fun to play with the different scents and these have become a staple for us. We won’t go back to dryer sheets; these dryer balls are amazing and reduce so much waste.
Clothing and Accessories:
I’m just going to be real with you guys. Since quarantine started, I live in workout clothes and sweat pants. I’m also on a no cothes buy time untul June 1 so nothing new to report here.
One thing about this time of quarantine is that I have really been finding a lot of peace and motivation in at-home training. With both my Crossfit and Orange Theory gym’s closed, I am really working hard to remain fit and carve out the time I normally would to be in a gym, working out at home. Especially as I gear up to start training for Dopey Challenge 2021.
I live with chronic knee pain and I tore my psoas muscle a few years back which has left me with back pain and a very tight piriformis (side butt muscle) and it can affect my knees, my back and be really painful. I hopped on YouTube and searched piriformis yoga and I found this amazing practice that I do three to four nights a week before bed now or after a really long run to stretch out my piriformis and it works miracles.
I am so glad that I found this. My knee pain is lessened, my back pain is lessened and my piriformis isn’t tight. I cannot recommend incorporating this into your training or daily life highly enough if you find that your piriformis is tight.
I received a microfiber hair drying towel in my Ipsy glam bag and I love it. I only wash my hair every three or four days and I usually wash it at night before bed but then I go to bed with wet hair and my hair looks like medusa the next day.
I took a shower and washed my hair and then I brushed it out and wrapped it, wet, into this towel, securing it to the button on the back and left it on for about an hour. When I took it off, it was still pretty wet in my opinion but I went to bed and woke up and it almost looked like i blow dried my hair.
My hair is soft, silky, and it’s not flying every which way. I love this thing. I now have adjusted my shower routine on nights I wash my hair so that I have about an hour before bed to let it sit in this towel and it is such a game changer. I love it. Highly, highly, highly recommend.
Online Church Service
It’s important to find a silver lining during this time. Ever since I relocated back to Colorado from the Washington DC area, it has been hard for me to find a church that I really resonate with like I did with my church in DC. With services all going digital during COVID-19, I am able to tune into my old church in McLean Virginia’s service online. It feels so good to do so and I am enjoying it so much. It is just an amazing way to feel centered and fulfilled during a time when it is so easy to feel lost and overwhelmed.
That’s all for this installment of favorites. Some really great things in here this time and I am so excited to share all of it with you. I hope that you are staying safe and centered and balanced right now.
Thank you for stopping by and for the love of the mouse, never forget, that it all started with a mouse.
