BREAKING NEWS! Bob Iger to Re-Assume Additional Responsibilities at The Walt Disney Company

As we reported on February 25, Bob Iger was turning the reigns of The Walt Disney Company over to Bob Chapek.

Chapek served as Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products since 2018. Prior to that was Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts since 2015. As Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, Chapek oversaw the company’s largest business segment, with operations around the globe and more than 170,000 employees.

Well, a lot has happened since then. Disney has been forced to shut down all operations at parks, resorts and on the Disney Cruise Line.

According to The New York Times, “In an emergency like this, Mr. Iger said, he had no choice but to abandon his plan to pull back.” Bob Iger had always planned to leave on top. He built a formiddable company that Walt himself would be proud of but no one could have predicted the current situation that has Disney and many other businesses and industries fighting for their lives.

The Walt Disney Company is hemorrhaging an estimated $30 million a day with no concrete date for when they can resume business.

It has not gone unnoticed that the face and name at the forefront of The Walt Disney Company announcements and news has not been Bob Chapek but has been Bob Iger.

According the The New York Times, Iger has repositioned himself to help bring the company back from these unprecepdented times and uncharted waters that threatened the success and future of the inconic company. He has not assumed the role of CEO but with 15 years at the helm of one of the most powerful companies in the world, he is certianly the most qualified to help the company meneuver through this challenge.

Part of his vision could include a future Walt Disney Company with fewer employees though he is careful to state that a firm decision on that would not be made by him but by his successor and additional safety precautions to help keep guests and castmembers safe.

Disney has been forced to furlough thousands upon thousands of employees. Though no official numbers have been released by the company on how many people will be furloughed, the final checks will be issued on April 19. All of those workers will retain their benefits.

Iger and Chapek are working together to ensure Disney remains on top. With decades of combined experience the company is in good hands. It makes sense that Iger, with 15 years of CEO experience would retain some control and help Chapek navigate these troubled times as he took the reigns of the company less than two months ago.

Although several outlets are reporting that Bob Iger is re-asserting himself as CEO of the powerhouse company, there is no such announcement or hard evidence that is the case. Iger still plans on exiting the company but will be increasing his presence and responsiblities with the company for the forseeable future as Disney attempts to recover from this monumental situation affecting businesses and indivudials across the globe. Bob Iger has always planned on going out on top and this is one more challenge he will have to work with the rest of the executives to overcome in order to secure his legacy.

Thank you for stopping by and for the love of the mouse, never forget, that it all started with a mouse.
