Disney Executive Chairman and former CEO Bob Iger has made some comments about what Disney might look like in a post Coronavirus world.

We have heard a lot of speculation about how COVID-19 could result in a new everyday normal for not only Americans but for the world.

When Disney parks and resorts open up again, just like post- 9/11, there could be some additional measures put in place to ensure the safety and security of guests and castmembers. Though this has been the “biggest business interruption” the company has ever been faced with, The Walt Disney Company remains committed to providing a safe and secure experience on all levels of function.

In an interview with Barron’s, Bob Iger explained that just as the company has always said and stood by, putting the safety of guests and castmembers at the forefront of the company.

“One of the things that we’re discussing already is that in order to return to some semblance of normal, people will have to feel comfortable that they’re safe,” Iger said. “Some of that could come in the form ultimately of a vaccine, but in the absence of that it could come from basically, more scrutiny, more restrictions.”

“Born of necessity, the little fellow, Mickey Mouse, literally freed us of immediate worry. He provided the means for expanding our organization to its present dimensions and for extending the medium cartoon animation towards new entertainment levels. He spelled production liberation for us.” Walt Disney on what Mickey Mouse represents.

Mickey Mouse was created as an escape from the everyday, from the worry and seriousness that adults deal with in life. Mickey Mouse and the magic of Disney will exist beyond the current uncertain situation and will be there to bring happiness and joy back to people of all ages. Mickey Mouse and Disney brings us together and creates of imagination, magic and happiness. “We know when it ends that we will have things for the public to enjoy and to escape to, maybe in ways they will appreciate more than they ever have,” Said Bob Iger.

Whether Disney implements additional precautions to ensure the safety and security of all who come to this happy place or not, it will never detract from the magic.

Thank you for stopping by and for the love of the mouse, never forget, that it all started with a mouse.
