Set the alarm to make sure I was ready to register.
Got my computer all ready to go.
Got my credit card ready to go.
Got on the DVC website designated for early registration for RunDisney events and discovered that as of today, all on-sale dates for RunDisney events have been postponed.
That’s right. Registration for RunDisney events including the 2021 Walt Disney World Marathon has been pushed back and no new dates have been announced for registration.
This is brand new information as just yesterday, that was not on the website and it appeared that registration would go as planned. There are a few potential issues with this postponment but also several possible things that could wrong should registration moved ahead as originally planned.
Disney Vacation Club members have to book out their trips 11 or 7 months in advance.
To book at a home resort, those rooms open 11 months prior to your desired check-in day and for many home resorts, those go quick and by quick I mean within the first minute of availability being opened.
To book at a Disney Vacation Club resort that is not a home resort, resorts can be booked at the 7 month mark.
Registation has always been opened for Disney Vacation Club members early for RunDisney events; it’s a perk of being a member.
Annual Passholders also enjoy early registration to RunDisney events.
The changes were not issues via email to member but were made to the website, “Note: On-sale dates for future runDisney races will be adjusted. Please check back soon for more information. Learn more about changes with runDisney races.”
We are living in uncertain times and I think we can all be understanding of that but, yes, it is unfortunate that an event taking place in 2021 that requires extensive training and planning has been put on hold.
In a world of uncertainty, a little certainty and something positive to look forward to is uplifting and really helpful to some people.
Disney is running short on castmembers at the moment and also dealing with hundreds of thousands of guests having to postpone their trips due to COVID-19, registration for RunDisney puts a huge strain on their systems and Disney may not have the personnel to monitor a situation should one arise on their platforms.
After speaking to a Disney Vacation Club representative at (800) 800-9800, I learned that no dates have been set for registration but that dates will be updated via the website when the new dates are decided for registration.
Stay tuned for more information right here at For the Love of the Mouse and also stay tuned for my training plan which I will be posting here on the blog as I plan to move ahead with training and check back frequently for registration information.
Stay positive Disney runners, we’ll be running through the castle again in January 2021!
Thank you for stopping by and for the love of the mouse, never forget, that it all started with a mouse.
