33Disney and Nordic Entertainment Group have reached a multi-year deal that includes Nordic’s streaming service Viaplay as well as their other entities.

Nordic Entertainment Group’s Viaplay and Viasat will receive exclusive first-pay for the latest 20th Century Studios releases in the Nordic region. Viaplay customers will also be able to continue to enjoy popular ABC series such as ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and other popular 20th Century Studios films within the library.

For Disney content Viaplay customers will continue to receive Disney Channel, Disney Junion and Disney XD.

34`Bohemian Rhapsody’, `The Favourite’ and the 2020 Oscar-nominated `Jojo Rabbit’ as well as `Ford v Ferrari’, and the most recent installment in the successful `Terminator’ franchise are all included in this deal.

The library of 20th Century Studios that is included in this deal includes films such as `Alien’, `Planet of the Apes’, `Die Hard’ and `Deadpool’, `Pretty Woman’ and `Braveheart’.

According to Filippa Wallestam, NENT Group Chief Content Officer: “This agreement will extend our relationship with Disney to nearly 20 years and showcases both the popularity of their content with our viewers and the fantastic viewing experiences available on Viaplay and Viasat. We will now show even more of the world’s biggest films and series for years to come.”

Disney+ is scheduled to launch in the Nordic countries in the summer 2020, but with Disney not planning on launching Hulu internationally until after Disney+ has launched globally after 2021, this deal gives Disney the opportunity to provide a home for its more mature content from 20th Century Studios and ABC in the Nordic regions.

Thank you for stopping by and for the love of the mouse, never forget, that it all started with a mouse.
