71The Walt Disney Company has announced that they have obtained the worldwide distribution rights to a film of the Broadway production of Hamilton. Hamilton is the recipient of numerous awards including several Tony Awards and the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for drama.

Hamilton the hit Broadway musical is coming to theaters. According to Disney and Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, the film, which was filmed in 2016 with the original cast live on stage at New York City’s Richard Rodgers Theatre will hit theaters in the United States and Canada on October 15, 2021.

The show, which details through rap, the life of Alexander Hamilton, founding father of the United States, showcases the story of this statesman in two high energy acts.

According to a statement from Disney, the film “(combines) the best elements of live theater and film, the result is a cinematic stage performance that is a wholly new way to experience Hamilton.”

Never underestimate Disney, they always have tricks up their sleeve when it comes to providing entertainment and going after the big tickets.
