There is a lot coming down the pipeline for The Most Magical Place on Earth in 2020. It’s going to be an exciting year to travel to Walt Disney World. If you are thinking about a trip or have a trip planned take a look at some of the amazing events and adventures you could take part in.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is now completely open for guests which means that guests can now experience Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, the incredible and groundbreaking new attraction.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, the first ride-through attraction featuring Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse will open on March 4, 2020 taking guests on a fun adventure with Mickey and pals.
Mickey Shorts Theater will debut in March 2020, showing an original short film in the style of the popular Disney Channel animated series “Mickey Mouse.”
Stay tuned as we learn more about what’s in store for Disney’s wild theme park.
There is a lot of refurbishment coming to Magic Kingdom and we are sure there will be some fun new additions so stay tuned as we learn more!
We do know that these attractions will be undergoing refurbishments and maintenance:
- Jungle Cruise
- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
- Tomorrowland Speedway will have intermittent closings due to Tron construction.
- PeopleMover Refurbishments including new areas and scenes within the ride
- Tron Lightcycle roller coaster is started, completion by 2021 in Tomorrowland
- Rumored PeopleMover refurbishment that could include additional scenes.
- Walt Disney World Railroad will remain closed.
- Splash Mountain
In early 2020, Epcot welcomes another exciting festival season with the Epcot International Festival of the Arts, Jan.17-Feb. 24, followed by the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, March 4-June 1. These special events invite guests to explore special food and drinks, plus activities catered specifically for these festivals, such as artist demonstrations and live musical performances.
Three new films will debut at Epcot on January 17, 2020.
“Awesome Planet” in The Land pavilion showcases the Earth’s beauty and diversity in a 10-minute film featuring spectacular imagery, in-theater effects and an original musical score from Academy Award-winning® composer Steven Price.
“Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along” in the France pavilion is directed and produced by Don Hahn, producer of the animated and live-action “Beauty and the Beast” films, and invites guests to participate in a twist on a tale as old as time. It also features narration from Angela Lansbury, who played Mrs. Potts in the original film. The new sing-along will run in rotation with “Impressions de France,” which will receive an upgrade to 4K projection.
“Canada Far and Wide in Circle-Vision 360” in the Canada pavilion is an update to the previous “O Canada!” film with new scenes, a new musical score by Canadian composer Andrew Lockington and new narration by award-winning actors Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy.Also at Epcot, the new limited-time nighttime spectacular
“Epcot Forever” dazzles with soaring fireworks, inspiring music, lasers and colorful glowing kites that light up the sky above World Showcase Lagoon. This show will run into Spring 2020.
“HarmonioUS“, the new permanent nighttime spectacular will debut in Spring 2020 an will feature music by composer Pinar Toprak and include massive floating set pieces, custom-built LED panels, choreographed moving fountains, lights, pyrotechnics, lasers and more.
Space 2020 Restaurant, a new aspect of World Discovery will take guests on a journey around the galaxy for breakfast, lunch or dinner. This out of this world dining experience is set to open early 2020.
Remy’s Ratatouille Adenture in the France pavilion is set to open Summer 2020 and is a dark ride modeled after the attraction in Disneyland Paris.
A new French Creperie will open in the France Pavilion as well. It will be a quick serve location will be overseen by Chef Jérôme Bocuse, who oversees both Monsieur Paul and Chefs de France.
Epcot is a sea of construction and will remain so for the next several years. Here is a look at some of the changes this park is undergoing.
- Test Track January 13, 2020 through February 26, 2020
- Construction on new Mary Poppins Attraction in UK
- Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind construction continues.
- Epcot entrance
- Gardens of Wonder area called World Celebration
- Four New World’s of Epcot
- Spaceship Earth set to close for refurbishments in January and remain closed for two years.
