UPDATE!

Both the People Mover and Astro Orbiter were closed following reports of smoke billowing from the on and off-loading area. The Reedy Creek Fire District was dispatched to the scene, cleared the scene and both attractions have since reopened to guests.

We have breaking news from Disney.

Various reports on Twitter, Instagram and Social Media from guests currently at The Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World claim that the People Mover also known as the Tomorrowland Transit Authority, an attraction that takes guests on a slow moving tour through Tomorrowland and “the future” has been shut down due to an apparent malfunction.

Photos show billowing smoke coming down from the on-loading and off-loading areas of the attraction. One photo (from Mickey Central) shows the smoke from a vantage point just off to side from the off-loading moving walkway that takes guests down from the attraction and back to the grounds of the park.

In several videos taken from guests just moments ago, guests who were at the top of moving walkway waiting to board the attraction were ushered back down the “up” moving walkway as smoke appeared to be more prevalent on the off-loading side.

Guests are currently being evacuated from various areas of the attraction.

Disney has yet to issue a statement regarding this situation and facts are scarce. Stay tuned as we learn more about the current status of this beloved attraction.

Thank you for stopping by and for the love of the mouse, never forget, that it all started with a mouse.
