Disney has released more information regarding holiday hours for the most magically busy time of the year at Walt Disney World.
It is not uncommon for parks to reach capacity on days leading up to Christmas, on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve. So, if you are braving the magical theme parks, be prepared to get there early, get really friendly with thousands of other people and wear your comfy shoes because on the busiest days, once you get in a park, you don’t want to leave unless you are willing to chance not getting back in.
For many years, guests have mostly hit up Epcot and Magic Kingdom for the busiest days of the year because that’s where the most magical holiday decorations and spectaculars are but Hollywood Studios is also in on the action. Here is what Disney has released in terms of Hollywood Studios holiday hours.
Disney’s website has been updated to reflect some incredibly early park opening this holiday season.
- December 22-25: Park hours extended from 8am opening to 7am opening
- December 26-31: Park hours extended from 8am opening to 6am opening
- January 1-4: Park hours extended from 8am opening to 7am opening
As we speculated in an earlier post, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will not be included in evening Extra Magic Hours at this time. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be open during evening Extra Magic Hours, but the new Rise of the Resistance attraction will not..
In terms of other park hours, Disney extended park hours in December 2019 and January 2020, including Extra Magic Hours and New Years Eve. Here is what we know:
- December 25th: Park hours extended from 9am open to 8am open. Extra Magic Hours shifted from 8-9am to 7-8am

Also, Disney’s Animal Kingdom is also going to be ringing in the new year this year! That’s right! You can ring in 2020 with a wild time over at Disney’s most adventurous theme park because Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park will be open until midnight to celebrate New Year’s Eve on December 31, 2019.
There will be New Year’s Eve-themed food and drinks, DJs in Asia, Discovery Island and DinoLand U.S.A. As the new year edges closer, guests can gather around Discovery Island or Asia to watch a special New Year’s Eve countdown on the iconic Tree of Life.
If you are braving the parks to celebrate Christmas or ring in the new year be sure to prep yourself with patience, snacks and a whole lot of cheer.
