Phase 2 of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
, the Rise of the Resistance attraction will open to guests on December 5 and we have some news that may shock and change some resort guest plans as they beeline over to the most technologically advanced and immersive attraction in the world.
Disney has announced that Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will not be included in Extra Magic Hours. Extra Magic Hours is a perk for resort guests that allows them and only them to accesss attractions and shops at one of the four parks each day either prior to official park opening or after offical park close.
Many guests, including ourselves, have been planning to get over to Rise of the Resistance right when resort guests are allowed into Hollywood Studios for Extra Magic Hours in order to get our spot in line and beat out the non-resort guest crowds. Apparently that will not be happening.
Disney released an official statement:
Opening December 5, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, the newest attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, will be one of the most ambitious, advanced and immersive experiences ever undertaken by Walt Disney Imagineering.
When the attraction opens, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will be available during normal park operating hours. While the attraction will not be open to Guests during Extra Magic Hours, the remainder of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, including Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, will continue to be available.
The rest of the shops and experiences in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, including Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, will be offered during Extra Magic Hours. As well as other attractions within Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
