The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) conference was held this week and Disney walked away with four Brass Ring Awards for immersive products and atmosphere entertainment.
Disney is no stranger to winning IAAPA awards and being recognized as the best in the business. This year, the Walt Disney Company was awarded multiple awards for the brand new and excitingly immersive Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge received three Brass Ring Awards. One for Best Hard Good Item; that award went to the personalized lightsaber building experience, Savi’s Workshop.
The second award went to Disney for Best Visual Merchandising. This award specified Droid Depot where guests can build their own custom BB or R2 unit to their specifications and bring it to life with various personality chips and other details. The units even interact with each other and other immersive elements throughout Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
The third and final award that went to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge was for Best Plush. THis went to the adorable Porg! Guests have the option to choose their very own pork from the Creature Stall located in the marketplace within Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
Disney stated of the awards and the recognition given to Walt Disney Imagineering and the company as a whole for the outstanding immersive experiences and attention to detail that, ” Through outstanding products, we have helped create an entirely immersive experience that weaves the story of Batuu through every point in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, said Kareem Daniel, president, Walt Disney Imagineering Operations, Product Creation, Games, and Publishing. Experiential storytelling is at the heart of what we do, and I am so proud of what these teams have collectively brought to life.”
The fourth IAAPA award went to Toy Story Land in Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios. The Green Army Drum Corps that interacts multiple times a day with guests throughout the land received the Brass Ring Award for Best Atmosphere in the Live Entertainment category.
