Hi there! Welcome to For Love of the Mouse. If you are new here, we talk about all things Disney and beyond. To follow more of our adventures be sure to head over to our You Tube channel, our Instagram account at For Love of Mouse, we’re on Twitter and also on Facebook. Let’s get started.
We recently returned from our amazing fall trip to Disney. We covered Epcot International Food and Wine Festival, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and so much more!
Of course, we couldn’t head to the most magical place on earth without getting a few new items first. We also filmed a corresponding vlog to go along with this blog post and I will link that at the end of this post so be sure to check that out as well.
We love our Starbucks, especially at Disney, but we’re not big fans of the new compostable paper straws. We are big fans of Disney’s journey to decrease their footprint and become more environmentally friendly and we have found some great ways that work for us to align with Disney’s mission to decrease plastic use but not have to deal with the paper straws.
We purchased these Silicone straws on Amazon and we love them. We use them every single day in the parks and we have also purchased some for use at home. The ones we purchased for the parks, linked in this article, are great because I can toss them in my park bag in their little plastic cases and they won’t get dirty in the bag and can be washed out after use.
For the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival, for those who have followed our journey, you know, we like to eat. That being said, we go through the majority of booths at each festival. What you might not realize, if you are like us and like to really enjoy these festivals and what they have to offer is that, wow, that is a lot of one-time-use silverware.
Not where you thought we were going? I know. But, once you start to think about it, we’re not wrong. For Food and Wine Festival, for example, we probably hit at least twenty booths. One of the reasons is because we like to do comprehensive reviews of the food and drink and one is, again, we like to eat.
We were watching The Brookhart Project on YouTube and they had purchased reusable bamboo silverware. A bell rang in our heads and we were like, this is a great idea, so I hopped on Amazon and purchased a set for each of us. This Bamboo Travel set is perfect for us and on nights or days that were were at Epcot and going to multiple booths, I could attach them to the outside of my backpack so that they were easily accessible.
These are such a game changer for us. 10/10 would recommend.
We purchased Neck Fans from Amazon prior to a trip we took earlier this summer and they are amazing. They don’t look the coolest but if it drops your body temp and halts a big of sweating during a hot and humid Central Florida summer, that’s a win for us.
These fans were very reasonably priced and pop easily into our backpack for whenever we need them. We simply charge them each night and they are good to go.
I wear Mickey ears every single day when we are in Disney. I take them off for rides and sometimes when we are eating or for other things and I am always concerned that I am going to crush them when they are stuffed into my park bag so I loved the idea of these ear holders! I purchased a normal sized ear holder from BBBowtique and it is adorable and I get so many compliments on it.
It works great for Disney ears and also for ears with smaller bows or centers but if you know me, you know I love big bows. My big bows do not fit into the holder so I searched for one that was larger. I found Lakeside Fairies on Etsy and she was able to customize a large ear holder for me that I am able to make larger or smaller depending on the bow and it works for many of my ears. I now have both the large and small ear holder clipped to a zipper on my backpack for whenever I need to use them and they are the perfect park accessory.
That is part 1 of our massive pre-trip haul before our fall 2019 Walt Disney World trip. So many amazing finds before this fun-filled trip be sure to click the links for each item to get your hands on these gems.
Stay tuned for part 2 coming very soon!
Thank you for stopping by and for the love of the mouse, never forget, that it all started with a mouse.
