Welcome! Today, we are going to cover exactly what happened during and after my 5 Day Raw Generation Skinny Cleanse. This is my second cleanse from Raw Generation and the first time that I am doing the Skinny Cleanse. Both of the cleanses that I have done from Raw Generation were 5 day cleanses but they also offer 3 and 7 day cleanses.
You can also purchase a variety of packs that include just one flavor or a smaller bundle of flavors for everyday use.
I purchased the cleanse myself from Raw Generation. You can also purchase the cleanse directly from Amazon which I did for my first cleanse. Amazon sells the cleanses for the same price and at the time of publishing this article, shipping was free on the website as well as on Amazon Prime of course.
As I write this beginning segment, I am beginning my first day of the cleanse. I weighed myself this morning and weighed in at a cringe worthy 169.3 lbs. For reference, I am 5 foot 4 so technically, that is considered to be (quite) obese. I will say that I Crossfit, run and have a large amount of muscle mass so we all weigh and carry out weight differently but I am, needless to say, not too thrilled with that number. Also, for reference I wear a size 6 or 8 bottom and a medium top.
In recent weeks, I have once again fallen off the wagon that I was so diligently on for several months and this cleanse is the perfect opportunity to reset my body and my mind and get back to where I need and want to be.
The difference between the skinny cleanse and the protein cleanse is that with the protein cleanse, you receive three smoothie flavors and with the skinny cleanse, you are only receiving juices. I am interested to see how my energy and hunger levels change in this cleanse. I expect from the previous cleanse that days two and three will be the most difficult and that days four and five will be the easiest.
I hope that at the end of this cleanse that I have reset my body in a way that I feel comfortable in my own skin again and am excited to continue on a clean journey. With the protein cleanse, I found that my cravings for sweets and fattier junk foods had subsided and I hope that is the case again.
I also hope that I am able to workout through the cleanse. I don’t expect to be able to Crossfit on Monday but I would like to at least be able to walk or jog every day without feeling lightheaded and loopy. Important to remember, above all else, when you are cleansing, and when you aren’t, listen to your body. If you are feeling dizzy, lightheaded, loopy, don’t continue and always, always, always listen to your body. Also important, I am not a doctor or an expert, just a customer.
Here are the juices that are included:
- SWEET GREENS: (2 bottles per day) apple juice, spinach juice, kale juice, collard juice, filtered water, lemon juice.
- CITRUS CARROT: (1 bottle per day) carrot juice, orange juice, filtered water, ginger juice, lemon juice.
- SWEET ROOTS: (1 bottle per day) carrot juice, apple juice, beet juice, filtered water, lemon juice.
- COOL GREENS: (1 bottle per day) pineapple juice, cucumber juice, aloe vera juice, filtered water.
- SWEET-TART GREENS: (1 bottle per day) apple juice, cucumber juice, spinach juice, celery juice, filtered water, lemon juice.
Each day, I will consume six juices, as indicated above and I will drink them as indicated so one of five of the types of juice and two of one type.
I am going to be reporting back each and every day that I am on this cleanse to give detailed information about how I am feeling and then of course a recap at the end.
Here we go!
Day 1: Today is a Thursday and I began this cleanse after I had “fallen off the wagon”. I have been eating a lot of dairy and not so clean foods and I think that this cleanse will be a great reset. At 1:00 pm, I have had two juices, I wasn’t feeling incredibly hungry this morning. So far, I have had the Sweet Green Juice and the Sweet-Tart Greens. With me, for work still, I have Cool Greens and Citrus Carrot. I will drink one additional juice during the workday and drink the fourth on my way to the gym.
I plan on Crossfitting tonight and doing the full work as prescribed. In addition, when I get home from the gym, I hope to run three miles with the dogs. The end of day one, would typically be a very hungry time, so my plan is to keep busy.
In addition to my juices, when I woke up this morning, I drank a large glass of water like I do every morning and one cup of black coffee. It is not a good idea, if you consume caffeine regularly to cut that out for a cleanse as I, and most people, would experience caffeine withdrawals and nobody wants that.
I was able to Crossfit and was able to do the workout as prescribed. I also went for a run. I wasn’t incredibly hungry and felt really good at the end of the night. In addition, I slept really well and woke up alert and refreshed.
I once again brought four juices to work. Today is Thursday. I brought the cool greens which I will drink on my way to the gym. I brought two sweet tart greens and the ginger carrot. I also drank my black coffee and large glass of water first thing this morning.
Around 2 pm, I was feeling exceptionally hungry. Which is typical because that is when I get hangry in the afternoons. I drank three of my four juices by 2:30 pm and will drink the fourth on my way to the gym. I expect to once again be able to do the workout and do it as it is written. This is another long workout that should take around 30 minutes and then I will try to go on a run at least for a mile or two this evening.
I weighed myself again this morning which I went back and forth on but am actually glad that I did. I was down to 155.3 which was a huge surprise. I know most of that is because I was extremely bloated going into day 1 but I am excited to see if it progresses because that would be amazing.
One thing about this day was that I was incredibly short-tempered and irritable.
Hungry. Very very hungry. Day three was a Saturday and I got up and got a lot done in the morning and then I ventured over to my parents house to do some work on a big event I have coming up for work. I ended up having to leave around 3:30 pm because I absolutely could not keep my eyes open any longer. I got a lot done on this day and after i took a three hour nap which is not at all typical for me, I had a ton of energy.
I had a thought on this day though. I will not do this cleanse again. I had a horrible headache in the afternoon and I never lost that feeling of hunger which was really hard. While I was on the protein cleanse, the hunger subsided and i was fine after about mid-day on the third day.
This was the easiest day of the cleanse for me. I had to work in the morning so was focused on community engagement instead of being hungry for 7 hours which was nice and then we were just out and about and busy for the rest of the day. I actually didn’t drink all of my juices this day because by the time we got home, I had four juices left and I only drank two of them. I thought this meant that the hunger was subsiding and that day five would be a breeze. I was wrong.
Day 5 of the protein cleanse was a breeze. I was not hungry, I actually had the thought that I could do this for several more days and be totally fine. That is 100% not the case with this skinny cleanse. I am so hungry. I can’t focus at work. I am exhausted and all I can think about is food.
My clothes fit amazingly well. I am, today, wearing jeans that I haven’t worn in months. Probably since summer of last year. So, I think in the end it will all be worth it but I won’t likely do this cleanse again. I am so hungry that I can’t think straight. One of the best parts of the protein cleanse was that my cravings for sweets and unhealthy snacks subsided. That has not been the case with this cleanse. I don’t feel better emotionally or mentally and I just want to stuff my face with food.
As of mid-day, day 5, I can’t see myself doing this cleanse again and would recommend the protein cleanse head and shoulders above the skinny cleanse unless you are able to easily rest an even nap during the day. I work a traditional job and I have to be focused and “on” due to the nature of my job and I absolutely was not. I was not even able to blog that night. I went home, laid on the couch and actually felt quite nauseaus.
Following the cleanse. I woke up really hungry but weighed myself and found that I was down to 158.1. Much better number and I do hope that it has kickstarted me back into my clean eating, healthier habits.
I meal prepped on Sunday as I always do and prepped a number of healthy, delicious, clean meals for us to enjoy this week. I am thrilled with the final results but told Bryson last night and fully stand by that today, that I would do the 7 day protein cleanse before I do the 5 day skinny cleanse again simply because especially day 5 I was completely worthless and I felt so amazing following the protein cleanse. It fits my lifestyle better.
If you can survive being hungry and have the type of job or lifestyle where you are able to rest and lay back and relax and can take that time, this cleanse could be for you because the results do speak for themselves and physically I feel good. Now, that it’s over, I feel good, but for me, the protein cleanse is more my style and I will go back to that absolutely.
As a follow up. In the days following this cleanse, do not go directly into eating heavy, spiced, processed foods. Eat as clean as possible for several days and continue to drink copious amounts of water. I drink over 100 ounces of water a day regularly, and coming off of a cleanse, I drink even more than that and I have to eat as clean as possible.
I love Raw Generation and am glad that I did the skinny cleanse for reference and it serve its purpose, to lose weight and reset my cravings.
Thank you for stopping by and for the love of the mouse, never forget, that it all started with a mouse.
