D23, Disney’s bi-annual convention where they discuss current and upcoming projects throughout the entire Walt Disney Company runs from August 23 – 25.
The media preview event was held on Thursday night, on the eve of the convention where a super secret company announcement was made. Be sure to click the link to read all about that and we will link it again at the end of this post.
Following that announcement, Bob Chapek, who is the Chairman of Parks, Experiences and Products for the Walt Disney Company announced that D23 Expo, Bob Chapek announced that a brand new Moana attraction, the first ever Moana attraction at any Disney park will be coming to Epcot called the “Journey of Water”.
This will a part of the Epcot overhaul that we expect to hear much more about as the convention continues. More details regarding “Journey of Water” will be coming our way on the final day of the convention, Sunday, August 25.
In addition, Disney has revealed new logos for Epcot as well as pavilions and lands within within Epcot. The logo for Epcot itself will be used in various forms throughout the park but shows a nod to the past while always looking towards the future with the lines of the letters flowing into one another. All photos below are courtesy of Disney.
New concept art for the backside of the Epcot transformation as also been revealed.
New white models of the changes coming to the entire Experiemental Prototype Community of Tomorrow (EPCOT) were also revealed at Thursday night’s media preview and we expect more details to emerge as the expo gets underway. These photos were captured by The DIS and posted to Twitter during the event.
Not attending D23 but don’t want to miss out on the action? Not to worry! D23 streams a lot of the expo and covers a lot of the action on their very own YouTube channel!
