5Disney’s newest mode of transportation finally has an official opening date.

The Disney Skyliner is a state-of-the-art gondola system that allows guests a direct transportation option from Disney’s Hollywood Studios and International Gateway at Epcot to the following Walt Disney World Resort hotels: Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort and the brand new, Disney’s Riviera Resort.

6The Skyliner system will travel at speeds of approximately 11 mph getting guests moving swiftly to their next WDW destination. On average, the typical ride on this magical mode of transportation will last between five and 15 minutes depending on destination. Those with a fear of heights should take heed that the gondolas will travel at heights ranging from fifteen feet to sixty feet in the air.

So, when will the Disney Skyliner finally open?

7September 29. Many Disney fans speculated that Disney would open the gondola system prior to or in time for the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge but in true Disney fashion, they will not rush a project and will ensure it is as close to perfect as possible prior to opening.

Disney released a tweet on July 15, stating, “On Sept. 29, 2019, Disney Skyliner gondolas will take flight and officially begin transporting guests around Walt Disney World Resort.”

We can’t wait to be transported all over Walt Disney World with stunning aerial views of WDW property and it’s almost here!
