Permit Filed For Walkway Between Grand Floridian and Magic Kingdom

40Several years ago, we stayed at the Grand Floridian for our Christmas trip and I was so excited to run a loop all around the Grand Floridian along the entrance to Magic Kingdom and past the other Monorail resorts. I talked nonstop about it to the point where Bryson was like, “do we even need to go to the parks?” Jokingly of course.

Well, turns out, there is no such path. But all of that could be about to change. Disney has filed a permit that appears incredibly vague but one that goes from the Grand Floridian to the Magic Kingdom. Could this be a pathway between the park and this amazing resort?39

The project name for the permit is Grand Floridian to MK Walkway which does suggest that indeed a walkway is going in and the permit is specifically for “Construction generic dewatering large”.

38Disney has yet to confirm what the permit is for but we have our fingers crossed that it is indeed a walkway. We love walking the Monorail resorts and you can do so from all of them except the Grand Floridian. We asked a castmember once if there was such a path and were told there was not due to security reasons which seemed an odd answer considering the distance is similar to that from the Contemporary to the Magic Kingdom where there is indeed a walking path and security checkpoint.

41Some concerns with a walkway would be providing sufficient lighting and there is a bit of wetlands between the resort and the park which are known to house both snakes and alligators. Disney is diligent about posting signage on all walkways warning guests of the presence of those critters and providing barriers between such wildlife and guests. We imagine that would be the case for this path as well.

Again, no confirmation from Disney at this time but we can’t help but get excited about the prospect of walking this section and experiencing the magic in a new way!

Thank you for stopping by and for the love of the mouse, never forget that it all started with a mouse.
