If you are on the hunt for a new dining experience in Walt Disney World or the food mecca of Orlando, Epcot, we have great news for you.
Takumi-Tei, a new signature dining location in the Japan Pavilion inside Epcot’s World Showcase has opened.
This new restaurant joins Teppen Edo, Katsura Grill and Tokyo Dining inside the Japan pavilion and is the only signature dining location for Japan. According to Disney, “will enjoy an upscale dining experience with exceptional and specialized service tailored to the unique atmosphere.”
The restaurant will include unique, traditional and exotic dishes and tastes including wagyu beef, sushi, sashimi, bone marrow, plant based items and more.
Takumi-Tei, or “house of the artisan,” is a celebration of traditional Japanese culture and craftsmanship and the restaurant is “inspired by the natural beauty of Japan.”
Reservations for this brand new signature restaurant will not be available until July 16. Another interesting note is that Disney Dining Plan is not accepted at this location (at least not at this time). Typically, signature dining locations at Walt Disney World are available on the Disney Dining Plan for two table service credits, but not this time!
There are several different experiences to choose from, An incredible prix fixe multi-course tasting menu that will give you a variety of tastes from around the culture and a chef’s table experience are available and if those don’t suite you, guests can also order off of the extensive menu. Here are some of the menu items available at Takumi-Tei:
Appetizers include Teien which combines compressed watermelon and ahi tuna, Nikomi Wagyu featuring wagyu short rib and roasted bone marrow or Agedashi Tofu, silken tofu served with brown butter black rice and shimeji mushroom.
Mouthwatering entree options include Kamo Rosu, roasted marinated duck highlighted with kabocha squash, edamame, cured duck egg yolk and topped with a grape reduction and Takumi Gyuniku, a Japanese A-5 wagyu beef tenderloin accompanied with leek sauce, short rib gyoza, curried potato and seasonal mushrooms. A burst of flavorful delights.
If sushi is more your style, there are maki style selections, the Temari Sushi features chef-selected assortment of oceanic delicacies or sashimi selections.
For dessert, one incredibly enticing option is Kumo which is a yuzu which is a citrus fruit cheesecake, spiced kabocha, which is a Japanese pumpkin, orange yuzu gel and blackberry sake. Another option is Suiren Dani which is an absolutely gorgeous Japanese water rake scented with rose, kuromitsu which is a Japanese black sugar syrup, similar to molasses and kinako crumb.
An extensive beverage menu with premium sake, wine, beer and cocktails are available to accompany your meal and accent your experience.
From start to finish, your entire experience at Takumi-Tei will focus on providing you with a better, well rounded understanding of Japanese culture, explained to you by the Japanese cultural representatives.
The flavors are advanced and are probably not fit for everyone’s palate but if you are an adventurous eater and looking for something outside the box and more of a dining experience and an adventure through Japanese flavor’s and cultures, this could be a great place for you!
