Heading to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge? Looking forward to a relaxing, calm, quiet adventure to a galaxy far far away? I think you might be a bit surprised. Galaxy’s Edge is going to be crazy and awesome. With Disneyland opening on May 31 and Disney World opening on August 29, the adventure is about to begin.
Be sure to check out the Star Wars tab on our blog for all things Star Wars and to get the most up to date information regarding Galaxy’s Edge and planning your trip.
A couple of things we are really excited about are the incredible Disney details we can’t wait to experience and discover and the food and libations!
There will be no better place to find and hangout with the scum and villainy of Batuu than Oga’s Cantina at the center of Black Spire Outpost. When stopping into Oga’s, travelers will find an eclectic group of people, interesting and unique cocktails, a droid DJ spinning tunes and a bounty hunter who wants to talk to you about the galactic credits you owe a space pirate.
The cantina opens daily at 8 a.m. most mornings and will be serving stiff alcoholic cocktails and food as well. Oga’s will be located on both coasts with identical menus, theming and characters.
The location will be known for its alcoholic cocktail concoctions but is family friendly and there is even a drink for the non-drinker in your crew with the Blue Bantha Milk and Cookies.
The cantina is small and cozy with only six tables, six booths and a standing room only U-shaped bar. There will be no reservations for Oga’s Cantina, first come first serve will certainly mean long lines especially for the first few months. Wait times to even get into the bar will likely extend several hours for the first months on both coasts.
Why would the bar be open at 8 am? Because you are about to fight through throngs of families living their best vacation life with zero regard for those around them for the next four hours before you ceremoniously get “kicked” out of Bantuu when that four hours is up to spend the rest of your day in Disneyland with the thousands of people who were not as lucky as you to get entry into Galaxy’s Edge. You are going to need a beverage. Besides, it’s five o’clock in a galaxy far far away.
Also because the details, theme and experience is going to be absolutely unique and amazing and you want to experience that!
Let’s check out the menu!
Before noon the morning cocktail menu has the Bloody Rancor; A Bloody Mary made with vodka and Chile liqueur and garnished with a bone-shaped meringue cookie. Also available will be the Spiran Caf, to get your morning caffeine fix. This drink includes Peruvian organic coffee spiked with rum and served with orange marmalade, vanilla whipped cream and citrus zest. Very Interesting.
Food options will include the Mustafarian Lava Roll which will also be available at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo and is described as a “sweet galactic delight”. Morning vittles will also include the Rising Moons Overnight Oats. A filling treat served with yogurt, dragon fruit and seasonal fruit.
Non-alcoholic drinks served at Oga’s in the morning will include:
Blue Bantha Milk and Cookies is The “Star Wars” land’s signature drink is non dairy rice- and coconut-based chilled milk that yes is actually blue in color. A Rice Krispie treat cookie with Bantha horn icing is served on top of the glass as a “chaser”.
Moogan Tea sounds super interesting and is an unsweetened iced tea and chocolate milk with vanilla and cinnamon
Black Spire Brew is a drink that I am really excited to try. This is a Cold brew coffee with Caribbean spices, honey and passion fruit. I know this will be an unpopular opinion but we think Joffrey’s is disgusting and we sure hope Oga can do it better than Joffrey’s. Full disclosure, Bryson is a coffee purist and will probably hate this.
Tarine Tea is an unsweetened iced tea with peach, huckleberry and mint. I consider myself a tea connoisseur and love unsweetened tea more than most things in the world (bold statement for sure). I cannot wait to try this one.
Even the drinks have a backstory in Galaxy’s Edge. Blue Milk comes from the female spiral horned, wooly Bantha. Sentients drank it, and also used it in ice cream, butter and yogurt. It was available on Outer Rim planets such as Tatooine an Lothal. Moogan Tea and Tarine Tea are mentioned in Star Wars novels.
Some of the other notable cocktails available at the Bantuu watering hole include the Jedi Mind Trick that is sure to be a hit just from the name sake. This drink is a savory, bitter cocktail with grapefruit and floral flavors. An exotic selection. The Fuzzy Tauntaun is a more fruity selection with peach, orange and tangerine.
The Outer Rim is a Margarita with a black salt on the rim and foam on top. Foam seems to be quite the new trend at Disney. The last alcoholic cocktail we are going to mention is the Yub Nub which is a take on a traditional rum punch that is garnished with passion fruit seeds. Yes, you guessed right, with my love of all things passion fruit, I will be trying this.
Oga’s Cantina will also serve a selection of wine, beer and ciders. The brews include a wheat beer called White Wampa Ale, the Toniray which is a teal in color wine with fruity undertones, the Spice Runner Cider, a deep red gluten free cider and the Bad Motivator IPA, a hoppy and fruity beer selection.
Additional non-alcoholic libations will be available as well! Besides the signature Blue Bantha Milk we mentioned earlier, several super fun and inventive drinks for all ages will join the ranks including the Cliff Dweller.
A Fruit punch with creamy coconut and topped with a ginger ale spice. The Carbon Freeze is a strawberry, blueberry and lemon lime slush drunk with green apple popping pearls. We are getting major night blossom vibes. There is another drink with boba too! The Jabba juice has flavors of orange, pineapple, kiwi and yummy cantelope and is served with bluberry bobas. A mixture of lemonade and pomegranate juice called the Blurrgfire is complimented with habanero-lime.
The bar snacks served at Oga’s are the Cantina Mix which is just described as a bar snack and Oga’s Obsession which has dried fruits and pop rocks.
We can’t wait to hear reviews on Oga’s Cantina and experience it. There are certainly a number of ways to quench your thirst and take a break with a fun drink!
Thank you for stopping by and for the love of the mouse, never forget, that it all started with a mouse.
