Hi there! Welcome to For Love of the Mouse. We are so excited that you stopped by. On our blog, we cover all things Disney and beyond. Come for the Disney, stay for the lifestyle, health and beauty and more! Be sure to follow us on Instagram at ForLoveOfMouse, on Facebook at For The Love of The Mouse and on YouTube at For Love of The Mouse. Let’s get started!
Today, we are talking Flower and Garden Festival. This is one of my favorite, if not my absolute favorite festival at Epcot. From the topiaries to the incredible floral displays, to of course, the food and drinks, this festival hits the mark.
The 2019 Flower and Garden Festival is the fourth and final festival of Epcot’s Festival season and runs from March 6 to June 3. The festival plays host to a number of breathtaking topiaries featuring some of our favorite Disney icons as well as some incredible floral displays and features all around Epcot. Then of course, there’s the food. 17 kitchens in all, some returning favorites and a couple of new selections as well. We are going to cover it all!
Disney, who has been upping their merch game as of late will no doubt be releasing some amazing items for this festival as well. One thing we already know is that famed Violet Lemonade, one of the stars of the fest, will of course be returning this year and Disney is bringing some Violet Lemonade ears to go with it! Dare we also say, there will possibly be a new spirit jersey?
One of my biggest hesitation regrets come from last year’s festival. My mom and I took a Disney trip together at the beginning of the festival and there was an amazing coffee mug that looked just like an adorable terra cotta pot. I hemmed and hawed and ended up not getting it, when Bryson and I went back, near the end of the festival, it was gone. So, if you see something you really want, get it because if you are able to go back, it might be gone.
Topiaries are some of my favorite things at the festival and some of my absolute favorite things hands down at Walt Disney World.
If you have never experienced the topiaries, they truly are a vision, from Snow White and Seven Dwarfs, Anna and Elsa, Lady and the Tramp, the gang from the Hundred Acre Wood, Beauty and the Beast and more. The photo opps are endless at this incredible event.
The Garden Rocks Concert series will return again this year and will be live seven nights a week throughout the festival over in the American Adventure Pavilion at the ampitheatre.
Acts featured at this event include, Journey, Air Supply, John Michael Montgomery, Sister Hazel, War, Lonestar and more! Head over to the Flower and Garden Festival section on the Disneyworld website to see the full line-up and the dates for the acts performing.
To go along with The Garden Rocks Concert Series, is of course, a dining package. 15 top Epcot eateries are included in the dining package which gives you first option, guaranteed seating to the date chosen. Important to remember with the dining package is that it is an extra cost and that it does have to be same day. So, your dining selection and concert are only eligible for the date you select.
Restaurants include Rose and Crown, Coral Reef, Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, Chefs de France, Garden Grill and more. If the restaurant you choose is a sit down menu restaurant, not family style or buffet, your menu will include an appetizer, entree and dessert for each person for one price.
Hopefully returning to this year’s festival are the incredible floral displays around the lagoon separating Future World from World Showcase. A spectacular site to behold, the gorgeous colors coupled with the awe inspiring views of Epcot and of course the occasional Monorail are the ultimate Flower and Garden photography moment.
The butterfly house is another fun aspect of the festival, where guests can see a large array of butterflies in various stages of life.
Of course, there are the kitchens. You know we couldn’t forget about those. Seventeen kitchens this year including a couple of new selections. There will be four new booths at this year’s festival and we are just going to highlight a few of the dishes that will be available.
Over at Arbor at the Garden Terrace you might want to grab the fried green tomatoes or the mixed berry buttermilk cake.
FlavorFull Kitchen will have a blood orange aqua fresca that is a non alcoholic thirst quencher and a mickey tart peanut butter mousse with strawberry jam and boba pearls.
Citrus blossom is offering a lobster tail with meyer lemon emulsion and grilled lemon and a citrus shortcake. Yes please. This kitchen will also feature an orange sunshine wine slushy that is giving us major Orange Bird vibes and they will have a non alcoholic slush as well in an orange cream slush served in a souvenir Orange Bird cup.
Towel and Trellis will host all vegetarian selections including a farmhouse meatball and grilled street corn on the cob.
The Honey Beestro is back with one of my favorite dishes from last year, the wildflower honey-mascarpone cheesecake with orange blossom honey ice cream garnished with fennel pollen meringue kisses and petite lavender shoots.
The Smokehouse is bringing their pulled pig slider with coleslaw and warm chocolate cake with bourbon-salted caramel sauce and spiced pecans
Florida Fresh is giving us amazing summer vibes with Spicy Blackened Shrimp and Cheddar Cheese Grits with Brown Gravy and Local Sweet Corn Relish, the Key Lime Tart with Toasted Meringue and a cool Watermelon Cucumber Slushy which is available as a non alcoholic drink or with gin. And, of course, we could never forget the key lime sparkling wine. This was my absolute favorite booth at last year’s fest and I’m thinking it may be again!
A couple of my absolute favorites from last year’s festival were over in France with the incredibly decadent chocolate macaron lollipop au chocolat en sucette: large chocolate macaron lollipop and the la vie en tose frozen slushy: Grey Goose vodka range, St. Germain liqueur, white and red cranberry Juice and those will be reappearing this year as well.
Apparently, we are still not over the croissant Doughnut because over at Taste Track you will find a violet vanilla blueberry version. Frushi fans will be happy to know that the dish will be returning to the Hanami kitchen and you do not want to miss our on the tropical mousse cake over at La Isla Fresca, another great dish returning from last year.
Are you planning on attending Flower and Garden Festival? What are you most looking forward to?
Thank you for stopping by! And for the love of the mouse, never forget, that it all started with a mouse.
