Y’all, recently, I was running a few errands and I was over at our local mall and something told me I needed to go to Marshalls, so I did. I only went over to really see if they had anything I couldn’t live without because as you all know, you can’t or at least I can’t go to Marshalls or TJ Maxx with something in mind that i “need” because inevitably they will not have it. But, when you walk in to wander sometimes you really strike gold and that is exactly what happened.
I am constantly watching makeup vloggers do awesome hauls from TJ Maxx and Marshalls where they score coveted items from brands like Too Faced, Becca, Bare Minerals, Anastasia, MAC, Eco Tools and more and when I go, I find broken packaging and nothing special. Not this time, friends! Not this time!
I actually find my diamonds in the rough in the makeup area, it wasn’t until I was walking to the checkout that I looked over and BAM! There it was! The magical area of deals.
In the makeup area, I found some new brushes. The Aurora Lights 10 piece brush set with bag was actually a great find. I have been looking for new brushes and wanted a variety of smaller brushes and this one was perfect. The 10 piece brush set was $12.99 at Marshall’s and resales for $26.99. Bonus was the bag because I was looking for a new bag for my brushes.
In the clothing area, I was able to find some pale pink Democracy jeans (jeggings, I don’t wear real jeans, Crossfit problems). These jeans retail at Dillard’s for $68.00 and are my absolute favorite denim brand. I don’t like real jeans, I prefer stretch denim and this brand is amazing. I own several jeans from this brand and I am loving the color for spring and late winter as well. These jeans were $29.99 at Marshalls.
To go with it, I found a great acid washed denim jacket. I found a similar jacket at Forever 21 that retailed for $29.90. I have a darker cropped jacket like this that I have had since college and I still love it and wear it all the time but I was looking for a lighter one or a white one and came across this one and scored it for only $19.99. This piece is one that I will get a lot of use out of and can definitely pair it with the pink Democracy jeans that I purchased as well.
Now, here I was, walking to the checkout with my clothes and my brushes, sad that once again the bargain makeup had alluded me when it happened! (Insert, superzoom filter from Instagram).
There it was, out of nowhere, Too Faced, Bare Minerals, Anastasia, Becca and more! Too Faced and Bare Minerals are two of my favorite beauty brands and I was absolutely thrilled to score several pieces from these brands.
As with many things at stores like TJ Maxx and Marshalls it is a crap shoot if they will have your desired color. I totally lucked out. There was one Bare Minerals Blemish Remedy left and it was in Neutral Medium and I snagged it! I do not wear liquid foundation. I wear powder which yes, I know, not as full coverage as a liquid but I don’t want full coverage.
Bare Minerals will always be a go to for me because I love the formula and the brand is cruelty free! I make a strong effort to support as many cruelty free brands as possible and to steer away from purchasing any products that are not. Looking to find more brands that are cruelty free? Check out CrueltyFreeKitty.com for a comprehensive list of brands adhering to cruelty free standards!
I go back and forth about doing full coverage for filming but for day to day, I am a powder girl with minimal coverage and I love Bare Minerals. It stays all day, it doesn’t cake, it doesn’t get greasy, it’s amazing. If you are looking for a light to medium coverage powder that really does act much like a foundation because it melts nicely into your skin, I recommend Bare Minerals.
The Blemish Remedy Foundation retails for $29.00 on the Bare Minerals website. I found it at Marshall’s for $9.99.
Another Bare Minerals find from this trip was the Bare Minerals Invisible Glow Powder Highlighter. For the longest time, I was obsessing over the liquid highlighters but I had a bad experience from one I tried and it just, one doesn’t translate to photographs and camera well, so it is definitely not good for filming or for Disney trips and it just didn’t sit on my skin well.
So, I was on the hunt for a good powder highlighter and when I saw this deal, especially from Bare Minerals, I had to give it a try! I am absolutely loving it. It really blends with my blush and powder nicely and adds a nice highlight but not overly metallic look to my cheek bones. A great highlighter for subtle highlights and just to give a little highlight glow to your face.
I use an angled brush and just lightly dust it on to the top part of my cheeks, below my under eye after my apply my powder and blush. You don’t need a lot, a little highlight goes a long way in most cases. I found this for $5.50 at Marshalls and it retails for $28.00.
As I mentioned, Too Faced is one of my absolute favorite brands. I love their peach collection especially and I stumbled upon several of the products from that collection. I was able to snag a Bronzed Peach Melting Powder for only $10.99. This product retails at TooFaced.com for $30.00. I use this product as a contour and in the summer as a bronzer. I love it because it is a mix between a powder and a liquid so it goes on smoothly and blends really nicely into the skin.
If you are new to contour, I really recommend this product as it is incredibly forgiving and easily blendable. Too Faced is, in my opinion, one of the best products on the market. Although more expensive than drugstore brands it is pretty middle of the road in terms of price and the quality is extremely high for their products.
They are constantly coming out with new collabs and new collections and it is my absolute go to for blush and bronzers. Their Sweethearts Blush is a holy grail of mine and if you haven’t yet been introduced to their products and love a healthy glow and a more natural, dewy look, you can’t go wrong and won’t be disappointed with their products.
Too Faced, although now under the umbrella of Estee Lauder has proclaimed that they will remain cruelty free even though other brands under this umbrella are not a part of the cruelty free family… yet.
Lastly, I found a Buxom Big Tease Plumping Mascara. I have actually wanted to try this mascara for a while and I will be honest, I am glad I did and that it was only $2.99 because although it makes my lashes incredibly full and thick, it is clumpy and cakey. It could just be me, I have heard incredible things about this mascara but it is definitely cakey and ashes off throughout the day. I find little bits from the mascara on my cheeks and under eyes as the day goes on and this was the only item I wasn’t totally thrilled with.
I will say though, this retails for $22.00 on their website so for $2.99 it was still a steal.
So, that’s my haul! When all was said and done I spent $100.39 on seven items. The most expensive item that I purchased were the jeans for $29.99 and the least expensive was the mascara for $2.99.
I want to hear from you! Have you ever had a great makeup haul from TJ Maxx or Marshalls? What did you find?
That’s it for this post! Thank you for stopping by and for the love of the mouse, never forget, that it all started with a mouse.
