Guide to 2019 Festival of the Arts

Hey there Disney family! Welcome to our blog! We talk all things Disney World and beyond and we are excited that you could join us! Be sure to follow us on Instagram at ForLoveOfMouse, on Facebook at For The Love of The Mouse and on YouTube at For Love of The Mouse.

53Festival of the Arts, the third festival of “festival season” at Epcot begins on January 18, 2019 and runs through February 25. Festival of the arts is a delightful treat for all the senses. From visual arts, performing arts and culinary arts, Disney’s Festival of the Arts is probably the most underrated and underappreciated festivals.

Full menu’s and merchandise previews have now been released for Festival of the Arts and we have all of the highlights for you here!

artsLet’s start with the food because, we love food. One of the highlights for Festival of the Arts is the visual details for the food. Unique, creative and gorgeous, the food is tasty and a feast for the eyes. There are thirteen food studios open for this festival and they are open daily from 11 am until 9 pm.

The Deconstructed Dish food studio is a play on some delicious classics in deconstructed form. Both savory dishes this studio caught my eye and we are excited to give both a try. The Deconstructed BLT is crispy pork belly, tomato jam and soft poached egg and the Deconstructed Reuben is served with shredded corned beef, thousand island dressing, pickled cabbage and a rye curl. Full disclosure, I am not 100% clear on what a rye curl is but I will report back.

There is also a a tasty beverage that caught my eye called the Deconstructed Breakfast which features Twinings® spiced apple chai tea shake with maple bourbon cream, a waffle crisp and candied bacon. Come on now folks, that sounds delicious.

Over at The Artist’s Table there are three dishes I want and I’m going to be completely honest with you because I respect you and want that open, honest relationship with you. One of them, I only want because it is pretty and I think the pictures will be pretty. That dish is the Artist Palette Jumbo Chocolate Chip Cookie. because… just look at it. This item can also be found at the Decadent Delights studio.

The second dish that I am excited for at this studio is the Pan-Seared Scallop that is served with chorizo, roasted red pepper coulis and a parmesan crisp. I always try to experience each of the scallop dish at the festivals because scallops are just so darn delicious.

Lastly, I’m excited for the Beef Wellington with Mushroom Bordelaise at this studio. Hopefully we are hungry when we get to the American Pavilion because that is where this kitchen is located.

Over at The Painter’s Palate there are some very intriquing sounding dishes on the menu. From the trio of savory croissant doughnuts filled with things like, whipped boursin cheese, spicy tuna and chicken salad. The Pop’T Art (pop tart) get it? See what they did there? That looks like a delightful little pastry filled with strawberry and made to look like a cute little modern art painting. You can also find this treat at the Pop Eats studio. The White Chocolate Figment Puzzle on an Artist’s Palate sounds Instagram and blog worthy for sure even though I have absolutely no idea what it really is. You can bet, I will be learning more and probably giving it a shot.

59Decadent Delights has the Lemon and Blood Orange tart that sounds right up my alley. The Masterpiece Kitchen boasts a Wild Mushroom Risotto that is served with aged parmesan, truffle shavings and zinfandel reduction. I am excited for this savory dish as most of the highlights I have come across thus far have been on the sweet side. I am also looking forward to trying the Vanilla, Rose Water and Pistachio Panna Cotta from this studio which sounds unique and light and panna cotta is a hard dish to mass produce so I am interested to see how this turns out especially with the delicate use of rose water.

Probably the most exciting studio for me is the Taste Track studio located in Future World. If you recall back to our Food and Wine Festival posts, I was devastated (slight exaggeration) about the absence of one of our favorite items from the 2017 Food and Wine Festival and that was the Handwich.

Well the Handwich is back folks! I repeat, the Handwich is back and it is filled with lobster mac and cheese. To go along with that there is a trio of churro’s (a Disneyland staple) dipped in white chocolate to look like paintbrushes. Instagram worthy for sure!

Lastly, we cannot forget the Lobster Chips at Refreshment Port which appear to be a creative version of lobster nachos topped with a cirtus cream.

Although the food selections for Festival of the Arts are less than any of the other festivals, my hope is that the dishes they do have will be above and beyond so that we are dealing with a quality over quantity situation.

61The Disney on Broadway concert series is back again this year as well and you can purchase the Dining Package for one of these events if that interests you. Important to note that this is not as popular as Candlelight Processional and the dining is more of an option as opposed to something we highly recommend like we do for Candlelight Processional. More information can be found HERE on the concert series and the performers and information on making a reservation for the dining package can be found HERE!

Festival specific galleries are set up throughout Epcot and the World Showcase to highlight various artists. Seminars are available highlighting various aspects of Disney art including merchandise, audio-animatronics, cosmetology, music, fireworks and more. You can find more information about that HERE!

And of course, we can’t forget about the Merch! Festival of the Arts merch is here and includes a tie die spirit jersey, an adorable Mickey plush and figment ears. These ears remind me of the Figment ears that were released for Food and Wine two years ago but without the chef hat. Figment is at the forefront of the merchandise for this year’s festival so these are sure to be popular. Other items include a shoulder bag, hat, tumbler, limited release Magic Band, pin sets and several t shirt options.

Of course, if you are an Annual Passholder don’t forget to grab your Passholder exclusive magnet for the festival as well. This year’s magnet features Figment!

That’s it for this post. Are you headed to Festival of the Arts this year? What are you most excited for? We would love to hear from you!

Thank you for stopping by and for the love of the mouse, never forget, that it all started with a mouse.
