Hey there Disney family! Well, we are only a few months past the most popular extra ticketed events at Walt Disney World for 2017 and already it is time to think about the 2018 events! Tickets for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP) and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP) are on sale for the 2018 season!
Why do these tickets go on sale so early? Because the best Disney trips are the well-planned Disney trips. Don’t get me wrong, if you know the tips and tricks on how Disney works, you can plan a trip last minute but there is no guarantee you will get to do all of the events you want. The farther out you plan your trip, the more likely you are to be able to fit everything or at least almost everything in that you really want to get in.
For many Disney enthusiasts, the opportunity to travel to Disney more than once a year or even once every few years is not a reality. There are other things to do, life gets in the way, it may bot be feasible for a number of reasons so when you are able to take that time and plan a trip to Walt Disney World, you want to get the most bang for your buck!
Always remember that if you are staying on property, you can reserve dining reservations the same time that you reserve your fast passes, 180 days out you can not only book fast passes but your dining reservations, if you are staying on property. If you are staying off-property, are an annual passholder or a Florida resident pass holder, you can book these 60 days in advance.
The key to success is having a plan and if you are planning your vacations during one of these extra-ticketed events, you might want to plan your reservations, park itinerary, fast passes etc. around when you are attending this event as they are not offered every day.
Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party
You can learn more about purchasing tickets to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party HERE. But let’s dive into the details that we know so far! The first date for MNSSHP is going to be August 17. This is a full twelve days earlier than the party started in 2017 (August 29). Sound early? Well, it is! But, these parties are incredibly popular and only so many tickets are sold for each party in order to maintain the exclusivity of the event. This means that although you are paying for an extra ticket, and yes, everyone has to pay, even annual passholders and locals, there are fewer people in the park, exclusive character meet and greets, amazing shows and special parades and fireworks.
Here are the dates for 2018 MNSSHP:
- August 17, 24, 28, 31
- September 3, 7, 9, 11, 14, 16, 18, 21, 23, 25, 28, 30
- October 2, 4, 5, 8, 9, 11, 12, 14, 16, 18, 19, 21, 23, 25, 26, 28, 30, 31
Please keep in mind that if you are planning on attending one or more of these parties, that your ticket gets you access to Magic Kingdom at 4 pm. If you do not have a ticket to this event, you will not be allowed to stay in Magic Kingdom past 7 pm. (times are subject to change, but these are the times from the 2017 parties). Although castmembers will not physically remove you from the premises, you will be politely escorted out unless you have the ticket for the party.
When you enter the park at 4 pm, you will be directed to a castmember for a special party wristband. Castmembers will constantly ask to see your wristband throughout the party, to make sure that you are supposed to be in the park for the event. If you are already in the park at 4 pm, with your regular park pass, you can head to several locations throughout the park to receive your wristband. You will be asked to show proof of purchase of the party ticket.
What is Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party?
MNSSHP is Disney’s Halloween Party for all ages. Hosted by Mickey Mouse and all your Disney favorites, this party features tasty treats, trick or treating, unique character meet and greets, amazing shows such as the Hocus Pocus Villain Speltacular and amazing holiday versions of the parade called the Boo to You Halloween Parade and the Happy HalloWishes Fireworks Show. In addition, if rides are your thing, because there is a limit to the number of tickets sold for these parties, lines for many rides are shorter than usual, although be warned, there are no fast passes during the party.
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party
You can learn more about purchasing tickets to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party HERE. Here is what we know so far about MVMCP 2018. The first date for MVMCP 2018 is November 8. This is just one day earlier than the first MVMCP from last year. There are 22 MVMCP dates this year. The last official party is December 22 but it is important to remember that if you are going to Walt Disney World the week of Christmas, the party essentially happens every day. The parade and the fireworks are the same fireworks as are shown during the extra ticketed events for that week.
Here are all of the dates for the 2018 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party:

Same as with MNSSHP, if you purchase a ticket to this event, you will be able to access the part at 4 pm with that ticket. If you did not, you will be escorted out of the park at 7 pm. If you are not planning on attending these events, it is still really good to know the dates so that you can plan what to do once the park closes to those with regular park tickets. Wristband processes are the same for this event as well.
What is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party?
A Christmas extravaganza for everyone no matter your age. This is our favorite party. We love it. In fact, we love it so much, sometimes we do it twice in one trip. There is so much to see and do; so many characters dressed in festive attire, so many amazing shows and I love the parade and of course Santa. Santa ends the parade and it’s the real Santa too of course!
Besides the amazing character meet and greets including characters unique to the extra ticketed parties, there are amazing shows that only show during this time of year for this event including Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration, A Frozen Holiday Wish, where Elsa will turn Cinderella’s Castle into her frozen ice castle; there is special merchandise only available during the party and the unbeatable Holiday Wishes fireworks show and the Once Upon a Christmastime Parade.
