Planning Disney With Friends

Well, Disney family, guess what! We have ANOTHER Disney trip in the works. Yep, that’s right, we just added a fourth countdown to our 2018 itinerary. This is going to be epic! This trip is our only Food and Wine Festival trip… so far but we re excited! This is a unique trip for us because this is our first trip, since our first trip together, which we went on with my cousin and her husband, that we are planning with another couple.

376That’s right! We are planning a four day trip with friends in September. This brought up some interesting thoughts. How do trips differ when we are going with another couple than when it is just us Disnerds. Here are a few thoughts on that.

We are annual passholders and they are not so we want to make sure that they get to experience the WDW that we know and love and do the things that they are excited to do! Especially since we pretty much love to do everything.

346We know the tips and tricks to optimize our time getting to the parks, at the parks, things to do outside of the parks etc. so we can be sure to plan as much as possible to get the most out of the trip for everyone.

235Budget: We want to plan a trip on a budget everyone is comfortable with, especially as our friends have to purchase park tickets so we are looking at, either our favorite off-property site, Wyndham Bonnet Creek or one of the Value Resorts like Pop Century.

230In addition, we are not considering the Dining Plan at this time but I do think that we should plan one nice dinner while we are there on property so that our friends can experience that, perhaps even a character meal like breakfast at Tusker House or Ohana.

365Itinerary: We all know how much I love an itinerary for Disney. Especially, if we are going with a group bigger than the two of us because you HAVE to plan your days at least in terms of Fast Passes and restaurant reservations or you will be scrambling for those and no one wants that.

We are sitting down in about a month to start to discuss what we want to do in Disney, what their must-do’s are, what we would would really like for them to experience and start to hash out a plan. This will include:382

  • Where to stay
  • Exact dates of trip
  • Which parks, which day
    • Parkhopper?
    • Which Fast Passes do we want?
  • Dining reservations
  • Other
  • Outside the box
    • When traveling with someone who goes to Disney a lot, they probably know some off the beaten path things to do.
      • Resort Hopping
      • Rope Drop
      • Best spots for the Festival of Fantasy Parade, Fireworks shows and nighttime spectaculars.
      • Little known to do’s like Getting a haircut on Main Street
      • Best times for certain rides
      • Best treats and restaurants
      • Best photo pass opps
      • So much more!!!

76There are so many exciting things to experience in Walt Disney World, whether you are an annual passholder or planning a rare trip. It is important for us to remember that although we know so many tips and tricks, there are things that everyone wants to experience and we are so excited to show our friends some things they may not know about or know how to do easily and we are even more excited to do the things on their list!
