Celebrate in Style at Walt Disney World

bday button

Last year for my birthday, my now husband booked us a trip to Walt Disney World. We stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge and he told the hotel that it was my birthday. When we checked in I got a birthday button! I wore my birthday button for our entire trip! You can get buttons for other things as well; there is a button for people on their first to Disney, newlyweds, newly engaged, anything you are celebrating, you can probably get a button for it.

I wore my button so much, it broke on the last day of the trip. Every castmember we saw, wished me a happy birthday and even as an adult, maybe especially as an adult, it was so cool.

I got treats too! I got a free cupcake at one of the quick service places in Magic Kingdom, Gaston’s Tavern. We got free drinks and a free pretzel at the Lunching Pad. I got a free Mickey ice cream bar, and more! Disney definitely wants you to feel special when you are celebrating something.

Don’t feel weird either, if you are an adult and with a child or on an adults only trip to celebrate. Like I said, this isn’t just for kids! Disney wants everyone to feel special and the perks are great so wear that button with pride! It really is cool that all the castmembers wish you a happy birthday or congratulate you on your celebration.

My husband and I are actually going back to Disney World this year on almost the exact same dates. We are going to be there for my birthday and although this is not our official honeymoon trip, it is the first trip that we are taking as a married couple so we are kind of saying it is a honeymoon…you can have more than one honeymoon I’ve decided. You only live once, honeymoon often! So, I’m torn. Do I wear a birthday button or wear a honeymoon button? Can I wear two buttons? I will have to ask on that one because I would be that person who wears two buttons.

In 2018, we are also going back for my husbands birthday! This will be his first time to celebrate his birthday in Disney World and I can’t wait! It is such a fun time!

Where to get your button:

If you are staying at a Disney resort you can get your button at the front desk of your hotel. You can tell them ahead of time that you are celebrating something or that it is your first time and they will have your button ready when you check in.

566You can get your celebration buttons at any Guest Relations spot at any of the Disney World parks. You can also stop at any of the shops at the parks and ask, many of them, like the Emporium, will have buttons for you or can direct you where to find them.

Other fun celebration ideas:

Amorette’s Patisserie, located in Disney Springs will send a cake to your restaurant for your celebration dinner! These cakes are adorable and are the perfect sweet treat to top off your day (or stay) of celebration. You can also head to Amorette’s for a 90 minute cake decorating class where they will teach you and you will make your own Mickey cake!

At several of the Disney restaurants including Narcoossee’s, Grand Floridian Cafe, Citricos, Cinderella’s Royal Table and California Grill you can order the glass slipper dessert. This is either a milk or white chocolate glass slipper filled with chocolate mousse. Each restaurant has a slightly different variation of the dessert, some come served with raspberries and a raspberry puree. This dessert must be pre-ordered at all locations and is not included in any of the Disney Dining Plans. The cost can vary but is around $15. Be sure to call the restaurant ahead of time or call the Disney help line for more information on how to order this dessert for your special occasion.

Another experience I highly recommend because there is no better place to celebrate a special occasion than at the happiest place on earth. Thanks for stopping by and for the love of the mouse, never forget, that it all started with a mouse!
